During the weekend of August 12 to August 14, 2022, actor Gary Busey was in Cherry Hill, NJ attending the fan-fueled, horror-themed Monster-Mania Convention Center at the Doubletree Hotel. Somewhere around this time, Cherry Hill police responded to a report of a sex offense at the hotel after receiving multiple complaints involving at least two victims. After investigating the incident, detectives charged the Silver Bullet actor on four offenses: two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one count of attempting criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree and one disorderly conduct count of harassment.
The 78-year-old Busey was booked as a guest for Monster-Mania, along with other actors like Ralph Macchio, Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright. The Buddy Holly Story star has attended prior Monster-Mania events in the past. While representatives for Busey have not commented, Cherry Hill Police Lt. Robert Scheunemann told the newspaper,

Monster Mania Convention LLC, in a statement released through a lawyer, said it was aware of an incident between an “attendee and a celebrity guest” and was cooperating with investigating authorities.
“It was about contact. It was about touching.”
“Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendee, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report."
Gary Busey Is No Stranger to Trouble with the Law

The Tulsa, Okla. Native started his career in 1966 as a singing drummer with the band Carp. The band did get a deal with Epic Records, but after they broke up, Busey pursued film and TV roles. In addition to a long-acting career in film, Busey has been a staple on reality TV, including appearances on such shows as Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2008.
In 1995, Busey was arrested on drug charges after he took a near-fatal overdose of cocaine at his Malibu home and in 2001 he was arrested and investigated for spousal abuse after his ex-wife, Tiani, called officers to the couple’s home saying her husband had left her bruised.
During the 2011 season of Celebrity Apprentice, Busey was accused of sexually assaulting a female employee of the show. In 2016, the employee told The Daily Beast:
Former president Donald Trump reportedly knew about the incident and laughed it off, according to five staffers on the series.
“We were smoking cigarettes outside, and Busey was standing next to me. And then at one point, he grabbed me firmly between my legs, and ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts.”
