Gene Hackman Gets Lots of Love Online
Hackman has been living a fairly private life since his retirement, but an image of the actor went viral shortly after it was posted online by author James L. Neibaur in 2021. Fans were happy to see that Hackman was doing well, as it was the first that many had seen of him in many years. Two years later, Neibaur is again honoring Hackman by reflecting on that image and wishing him a happy 93rd birthday.
As Neibaur shares, “A couple years ago I tweeted this then-2yr-old pic of Gene Hackman, it went crazy viral, and every response was positive. That’s a star. Happy 93rd birthday to one of the most respected actors in film history.”
After a highly successful career, Hackman would walk away from acting after co-starring with Ray Romano in the 2004 comedy Welcome to Mooseport. He’d later make a special appearance with Guy Fieri for an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2008 and has served as a narrator of multiple documentaries, including 2017’s We, the Marines.
