Netflix will soon debut Kaleidoscope, a limited series that tells a story 25 years in the making, at the start of the new year. Officially set to premiere on Netflix on New Year’s Day, the series features Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul, The Mandalorian, The Boys) as the leader of a fringe group assembled to carry off an incredibly elaborate heist. To ensure that no mistakes are made, the meticulous planning takes a quarter of a century with each episode set in a different year.

To tease the new series, Netflix has just dropped an official trailer, which you can check out below.

While the anthology series tells one overall story about the ultimate heist, it’s not told in order, as each episode serves as a puzzle piece for the plot. Viewers will have the option of watching the series as is, which jumps around in time from 24 years back to the morning after the heist. The heist itself serves as the finale. But if viewers want to have a more linear experience watching the film, they can choose to do so in the order in which each episode is set.

The official series description reads:

And the episode titles include:

  • “Yellow: 6 Weeks Before The Heist” “Green: 7 Years Before the Heist” “Blue: 5 Days Before the Heist” “Violet: 24 Years Before the Heist” “Orange: 3 Weeks Before the Heist” “Red: The Morning After the Heist” “Pink: 6 Months After” “White: The Heist” the epic story finale.

Will the Heist Be a Success After So Much Planning?

The series is loosely inspired by the real-life story where $70 billion in bonds turned up missing from Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy. The series primarily stars Esposito as Leop Pap, aka “The Mastermind,” the leader of the group. To pull off the heist, he has enlisted Ava Mercer (Paz Vega) as his Weapons Specialist; Judy Goodwin (Rosaline Elbay) as Explosives Expert; Bob Goodwin (Jai Courtney) as the Safe Cracker; Stan Loomis (Peter Mark Kendall) as the Smuggler; and RJ Acosta Jr. (Jordan Mendoza) as the Driver. Opposing them as the “unbeatable” vault’s security team are Roger Salas (Rufus Sewall), the Corporate Security Titan; Hannah Kim (Tati Gabrielle), the Protege; Liz Kim (Soojeong Son) as the Sister; and Carlos Sujo (Hemky Madera) as the Henchman. The agents on the case are Nazan Abbasi (Niousha Noor) as the Driven Agent alongside Agent Samuel Toby (Bubba Weiler) as the Partner.

Kaleidoscope will premiere on Netflix on Sunday, Jan. 1. Watch it on the app and on Netflix.com.
