Fans of the beloved supernatural series Good Omens have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of season 2 ever since Prime Video announced its renewal back in June 2021. While there is no official release date set just yet, show creator Neil Gaiman recently gave fans an update on when they can expect to see the trailer for the new season. After filming wrapped up in March 2022, the show has been busy with post-production, and it seems that all of that hard work is finally paying off as everything is coming together for a Summer premiere.
In response to a fan asking why there hasn’t been a trailer released for Good Omens season 2 yet, Neil Gaiman explained on his Tumblr that it is not uncommon for trailers to be released closer to the show’s air date. He used the example of his other television series, The Sandman, which took a long time to produce its first trailer.

After the huge success of their first season, Michael Sheen and David Tennant are set to reprise their roles as Aziraphale and Crowley in the highly anticipated second season of Good Omens. The show, courtesy of Prime Video, was praised for its unique exploration of morality, wit, and friendship through the dynamic partnership of the angel and demon, captivating viewers with their cinematically-brilliant performances. Based on the beloved literary work by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, fans can expect another exciting installment as the unlikely duo faces an even greater challenge than stopping the apocalypse.

Good Omens Season 2 won’t be released until the summer. If we release a trailer now we’ll have at least 6 months of people baffled that it’s not out yet. Sometimes you release a trailer early. Doctor Who has just released a trailer eleven months early. But that’s serving a lot of functions, most importantly restoring confidence in the new-old team of Russell T Davies and David Tennant.”

What to Expect From Good Omens Season 2

Good Omens follows the thrilling story of two divine beings, Aziraphale the angel, and Crowley the demon, who must work together to prevent the end of the world. The antichrist, a newborn child, is causing chaos and threatening the balance of the world. However, Aziraphale and Crowley don’t realize that the child they have been tracking has been swapped with another at birth. As ancient prophecies begin to come true and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse approach, both Heaven and Hell are preparing for the ultimate showdown.
Gaiman has shared several hints about what to expect from the new season, including pixilated images of Aziraphale and Crowley in period clothing, potentially hinting at their adventures through the ages. While the first season was an adaptation of the original novel by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the sequel was never written. However, Good Omens will still get its much-awaited follow-up, with a plot based on the bare bones premise that Pratchett and Gaiman had mapped out years ago, this time in television form.
There is currently no official release date for Good Omens season 2.
