Adam Sandler is an icon for many reasons. He’s been making movies for decades, establishing a name for himself in Hollywood for several years, and he’s definitely a household name. One of his biggest feats and biggest successes within his films, is Grown Ups. Released in 2010 and with an astounding budget of 80 million, Grown Ups is one of the most well-known buddy comedies that was released in the 2010s, strictly due to the casting. Sandler seemingly wrote this movie with his friends in mind, casting Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider to play his friends in the movie, and one can tell that they’re all close in real life as well. Since it’s been more than 10 years since the first movie was released, here’s what the stars of Grown Ups have been up to recently.

Adam Sandler

Following the success of Grown Ups, Adam Sandler has gone on to star in some major roles in both the comedy genre and in more serious flicks. He has several movies made through Netflix, including The Week Of, which also features Chris Rock. One of his biggest, most recent projects was Uncut Gems, and for many people, it was the first serious role that they saw Sandler in, praising his acting and artistry throughout the movie. While Sandler has hinted at making a Grown Ups 3, especially if his old dear friend Chris Farley was alive, ScreenRant states that nothing is truly in the works right now.
Kevin James
Netflix
When Kevin James introduced the world to Paul Blart the Mall Cop, his fame rose by a lot. James is an amazing comedian that hits with several different generations, and since Grown Ups, he’s done a lengthy list of movies, as well as some stand-up comedy specials. One of his more recent movies is streaming on Netflix and is titled Home Team. James’ character, Sean Payton, appears to be a washed-up coach that was suspended from the NFL. James plays a great role and the message throughout the movie is touching, while it’s also filled with some big laughs.
Chris Rock
Disney-ABC Domestic Television
In the past year, Chris Rock has been trending almost every single month following the altercation that happened between him and Will Smith at the Oscar Awards. Following that slap, Rock sealed a deal with Netflix for a live comedy special that’s set to be released in early 2023, states CNN. Rock has also starred in the hit movie Spiral, where he was also a producer; as well as ten episodes of Fargo. Since there have been several big opinions about what happened on that Oscar night, many actors and celebrities have been backing Rock, so it’s unlikely his fame is going anywhere anytime soon.
David Spade
Happy Madison Productions / Netflix
Currently, on tour for his stand-up, David Spade is known for his brash comedy and unapologetic sense of humor. Similar to his friends and colleagues, Spade has several movies linked to Netflix, such as The Wrong Missy, Father of the Year, and The Do-Over. It’s also fun to note that in many of the movies that these actors partake in, this specific group of people often are acting alongside them. Especially Sandler and Spade, who at one point in their lives, were a group of three, with Chris Farley, making their friendship after the passing of their mutual friend that much more important.
Maya Rudolph
AppleTV+
Maya Rudolph is one of the funniest female comedians we have right now, but not only that, she’s an amazing actress as a whole. In Grown Ups, she played Deanne, who was married to Rock’s character, and since 2010, Rudolph has been constantly booked and busy. She’s leant her voice for many animated films, such as Luca, Mitchell and the Machines, Big Hero 6, and Big Mouth. More recently, she was in the highly-anticipated Disenchanted, and is often appearing in new episodes of Saturday Night Live.
Salma Hayek
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
One of Salma Hayek’s biggest roles was Frida in 2002, and since then, she’s built quite the career for herself. Since Grown Ups, she’s only gotten bigger and bigger, such as starring in Marvel’s Eternals. She played Ajak, was a substantial character in the MCU, and Hayek nailed it throughout the film. Also, her role as Pina Auriemma in House of Gucci was iconic and just proved that Hayek is nowhere near the end of her acting career.
Rob Schneider
Sony Pictures Releasing
Similar to his friends and coworkers on this list, Rob Schneider is an extremely notable and credible comic, who had a pillar in Saturday Night Live. He also keeps his roles close to the chest, often appearing in movies that feature Sandler, Spade, and James. Schneider has recently starred in Hubie Halloween, The Wrong Missy, and Home Team; all movies that feature his good friends.
