Halle Berry turned up at the Critics Choice Awards, rocking a new look that has ignited speculations of her return as the Marvel superhero, Storm. Berry played the character in the original X-Men trilogy and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Fans hoped for Berry’s return as Storm after the film, but Alexandra Shipp was recast in the role in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
Berry has since moved on from the role but has expressed her desire to play Storm again on multiple occasions. “I would absolutely return to it, it’s a beloved character, I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm,” Berry told Vanity Fair last December. “So, I would absolutely, you know, if we could find a version that would make sense, or a storyline that would make sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Halle Berry took to Twitter to announce her new hairstyle to fans, writing, “This is for all my beautiful fans that have wanted my short hair back! This is for YOU!”
White hair is one of the key attributes of the iconic Marvel superhero, Ororo Munroe/Storm, and Berry’s decision to sport a new look comes just days after Berry expressed hopes of revisiting both Storm and Catwoman again, and Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed that Doctor Strange 2 is still undergoing reshoots. Could this be a coincidence? It probably is, but no one expected Spider-Men from three different eras to appear in a live-action film together either, and Marvel almost kept it a complete secret. However, fans have already started speculating over her MCU debut. Here are a few reactions to Berry’s tweet.
Halle Berry starring in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a far-fetched theory, but quite realistic if compared to reports of Tom Cruise playing Iron Man or The Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider’s appearance in the film. Another mutant, Sir Patrick Stewart, is also confirmed to return in Doctor Strange 2 as Charles Xavier/Professor X, after dying twice already. Benedict Cumberbatch has promised that Doctor Strange 2 will be even bigger than the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home. And just Doctor Strange traveling through the multiverse with a couple of friends probably won’t be enough to accomplish that. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will answer all the questions and confirm (or debunk) the fan theories when it arrives in theaters worldwide on May 6, 2022.
Halle Berry Has Successfully Cemented Herself As a Brilliant Film Director
Netflix
After spending decades wowing audiences with her compelling performances and winning several prestigious awards in Hollywood, Halle Berry transitioned to being a film director, debuting with Netflix’s MMA drama Bruised. While the film received mixed to positive reviews, Halle Berry’s lead performance and directorial efforts have been singled out for praise. Plus, Bruised received much more love from the fans than it did from the critics, generating significant viewing figures for Netflix.
The success of Bruised resulted in Berry signing a lucrative multi-picture deal with Netflix. Bruised premiered on Netflix last November, and since then, Halle Berry has starred in Roland Emmerich’s disaster epic Moonfall. The film will go down in history as one of the biggest box-office bombs ever, grossing only $39.5 million against its $138 million budget. Berry will next be seen in Netflix’s sci-fi drama The Mothership, alongside Molly Parker and Omari Hardwick. Berry has also teased her return in John Wick 4, which will now be released on March 24, 2023.
