Be warned, potential SPOILERS for Halloween Ends to follow…

The latest footage from the upcoming slasher sequel Halloween Ends may have revealed a major plot point. A plot point that has been rumored for some time and is sure to annoy and irritate fans of the horror franchise. Shared online via Twitter user @Dequail5, the footage shows a boy saying, “Michael Myers kills babysitters, not kids,” suggesting that there may be a Michael Myers copycat killer on the loose. Before we get in SPOILER territory, check out the newly released footage from Halloween Ends below.

It has already been officially revealed that Halloween Ends will find the town of Haddonfield facing another killer in the form of Corey Cunningham, who plays a central role in the plot after he kills a child he is supposed to be babysitting. No doubt he will not be paid for his service. What has been rumored is that Corey will pick up the mantle and the mask of Michael Myers, with the people of Haddonfield, and Laurie Strode, believing that Myers is back when it’s actually Corey performing a cover act.

This footage provides the most clues so far that this long-standing rumor is indeed true, with Corey being confused for Michael Myers before a small boy points out the differences in their modus operandi. Further footage shows an anonymous hand picking up the mask, as well as Corey coming across what appears to be an injured Michael Myers in the sewers.

So, while still unconfirmed, it’s looking more and more like Halloween Ends is going to make some pretty controversial decisions…

Halloween Ends Will Be the Final Battle Between Michael Myers & Laurie Strode

     Universal Pictures

Halloween Ends will pick up four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, with Laurie now living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and working on her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell; The Hardy Boys, Virgin River), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.

Directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, Halloween Ends finds Jamie Lee Curtis reprising the role of Laurie Strode for the final time. Curtis has discussed her experience playing the role for the last time, saying, “I’ve just finished it, you know? I just three weeks ago finished shooting the last shot of Laurie Strode. It was deeply emotional and cathartic.”

Halloween Ends also stars James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle as Michael Myers, Andi Matichak as Allyson Nelson, Laurie’s granddaughter; Will Patton as Deputy Frank Hawkins; Rohan Campbell as Corey Cunningham; Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, one of the children Laurie babysat way back in 1978; Michael O’Leary as Dr. Mathis; and Omar Dorsey as Sheriff Barker.

Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022, by Universal Pictures and will also stream simultaneously on paid tiers of Peacock for 60 days.
