Back in the mid- to late-2000s, Hannah Montana dominated Disney Channel and the world of teen sitcoms. It seemed like wherever you went, there would always be someone talking about the show or repping Hannah Montana merch. The hype led to Hannah Montana: The Movie, following The Lizzie McGuire Movie as the second theatrical film to be based on a Disney Channel Original Series. After four seasons and nearly 100 episodes, Hannah Montana came to a close in early 2011.
Both Disney and the world have changed a lot since then, but Hannah Montana has continued to mark an important part of entertainment history. There just may never be another show like it ever again. With the show now in the past (but available to stream on Disney+), where is the cast now? Let’s have a look at where the cast of Hannah Montana is today.

Miley Cyrus
NBC
Of all the members of the Hannah Montana cast, Miley Cyrus has remained the most in the public eye. When the final season began filming, Cyrus told reporters that she couldn’t continue basing her “career off of the six-year-olds” (via Reuters). Distancing herself from Hannah, she attracted both new fans and criticism when she moved into her “Wrecking Ball” era. Miley’s musical style has evolved over the years, with one of her most recognized vocal performances in Mark Ronson’s “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.”
Emily Osment
CBS
Since leaving the role of Lilly Truscott behind, Emily Osment has been in several films including No Way Jose and Love Is All You Need? Osment has been more active on television, voicing Ruth Cochamer and several other characters in Family Guy. She has also had main roles in Almost Family and Netflix’s Pretty Smart and Netflix’s animated comedy horror series, Dead End: Paranormal Park. The Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon, introduced Osment as Mandy McAllister in its fifth season, a recurring role which would later become a main role in season 6.
Mitchel Musso
Disney
Mitchel Musso was well known for hosting Disney’s PrankStars and playing King Brady on Disney’s Pair of Kings. Following a DUI charge against Musso, both shows ultimately met a quick end. That likely negatively impacted Musso’s career, with him only appearing in a few low-profile film projects during the 2010s. Movies like The Sand and Characterz weren’t exactly mainstream. Musso did, however, go on to continue his working relationship with Disney with the animated series Milo Murphy’s Law and 2020’s Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. Before Hannah Montana ended, Musso released a debut album (and currently his only album) under Walt Disney Records. He has continued to make music, releasing a song called “EXPERIENCE” with his brother in October 2022.
Jason Earles
When Jason Earles played Miley’s older brother Jackson Stewart in Hannah Montana, he was already in his 30s. He is now slowly approaching his 50s. Nearly all of Earles’ television appearances have been in Disney projects, including his role as Rudy Gillespie in Kickin’ It for Disney XD. Despite being very likable and charming, audiences haven’t been able to see Earles in much else. Most recently, Earles guest starred in the third season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as Dewey Wood.
Billy Ray Cyrus
CMT
Billy Ray Cyrus was featured in a remix of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”, which ranked #1 on Billboard’s 2019 Year-End Hot 100 chart. An active country singer-songwriter, Cyrus released five studio albums in the 2010s. In 2014, Cyrus made an appearance in the infamous Sharknado 2: The Second One as Doctor Quint. He also received recognition for leading the American sitcom, Still the King, as the “second-best” Elvis impersonator Vernon Brownmule. Cyrus’ engagement has recently made headlines, and according to his fiancée, Firerose, the couple met many years ago on the set of Hannah Montana (via POPSUGAR).
Moisés Arias
Sony Pictures
No longer the manager of Rico’s Surf Shop, Moisés Arias has embarked on new and exciting endeavors. At the end of the 2010s, Arias impressed with his performances in Five Feet Apart, The Wall of Mexico, and Monos. In 2020, Arias told a coming-of-age story with his character, Mateo Andres, in Blast Beat. He also appeared in The King of Staten Island with Pete Davidson. Arias has explored many different genres and has arguably had the most variety in his filmography on this list. With more films on the way, Arias’ acting career looks far from being over.
