Ke Huy Quan has scored big this awards season. The Vietnamese-born actor earned a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once and is nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category. Ke Huy Quan, now 51 years old, became a child actor in the 1980s, first appearing in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as Short Round when he was only 12.
Harrison Ford, his costar in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, recently spoke about Quan’s Oscar nomination. In a conversation with ET during the premiere of his Apple TV+ series Shrinking, Ford said, “I’m so happy for him. He’s a great guy. He’s a wonderful actor. He was when he was a little kid, and he still is. I’m glad. I’m very happy for him.” Ford added that it would “be great” to see Quan make a comeback to the Indiana Jones franchise.
Following his 1984 film debut, Quan appeared in the cult classic The Goonies the following year as Richard “Data” Wang, the inventor of the group. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he appeared in other films, including Breathing Fire and Encino Man and series like Head of the Class. Quan then stepped away from the limelight, and his appearance in Everything Everywhere All At Once marked a major comeback. Following his Critics Choice Award win, Quan spoke about how the film has surpassed his expectations: “I am so, so, so grateful. I just wanted a job. I cannot believe what this movie has given me. I’m so lucky," he told ET.
Late last year, it was announced that Quan was joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and would appear in Loki’s second season on Disney+.
