After 38 years, Harrison Ford is rooting for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom co-star Ke Huy Quan. A former child star, Quan memorably played Short Round in the Raiders of the Lost Ark sequel alongside Ford as Indy. Earlier this year, the pair reunited at D23, as Ford was there to promote Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny while Quan was representing Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Following the reunion, Ford took the time to watch Everything Everywhere All at Once, and he was left impressed by Quan’s performance. In a new interview with Uproxx, Ford touches on the reunion and how it made him thrilled to see his old friend after nearly four decades. He also says Quan’s widespread praise and award nominations for the movie are “well deserved,” adding how happy he is for Quan to be getting this recognition.

From the interview:
“It was great to see him. I mean … I’ve had the opportunity to see the film. He is REALLY terrific in his movie. And I’m so glad to see him … and what he has become. I’m so happy for him. He’s such a happy guy, too.”
Ke Huy Quan Has Come a Long Way Since Playing Short Round

It was just recently announced that Ke Huy Quan has been nominated for his first Golden Globe, as he’s up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role. He has already won the Gotham Award for Outstanding Performance along with a Saturn Award, a New York Film Critics Circle Award, and others. There has been some speculation that he may even be up for an Oscar at the Academy Awards in 2023.
“Wow, this is incredible,” Quan said when accepting his Gotham Award. “This time last year, all I was hoping for was just a job. And just when I think that it can’t get any better, it does. What an incredible honor.”
Quan also recently spoke about this resurgence he’s had in success and popularity since returning to acting.
“How often does a man in his 50s get a chance like this? How often do actors get a second act?” he told the New York Times. “I really hope that if people are reading my story, it gives them hope, it gives them courage to give voice to that dream they once had. It’s so difficult to be an actor in this business, and I want those people who are doubting themselves or have dreams fading away because they think it’s not going to happen.”
There will be more to come from Quan as well. He is part of a stacked cast for The Electric State, an upcoming sci-fi movie from the Russo Brothers, which also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Anthony Mackie, and Giancarlo Esposito. Quan is also set to reunite with Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Michelle Yeoh for the upcoming action-comedy series American Born Chinese, which is in the works at Disney+.
