Harry & Meghan: The Plot

At its heart, Netflix’s Harry & Meghan is a love story. The six-part series is set to follow the couple from the beginning of their relationship all the way to the present. Through all the rocky ups and downs the press, royal family, and pressure to perform caused, the documentary is set to explore every facet.

The synopsis reads:

Not only is the documentary following the couple’s story from the beginning, but it seems it will also feature interviews with Harry and Meghan themselves. Along with those, the series will speak with close friends of the two, family members, and historians. Tracking the couple’s relationship through more than the archival media footage that put them under so much scrutiny, Netflix is setting Harry & Meghan up to be an honest look at the couple’s life and journey. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement:

With an endorsement from Harry and Meghan themselves, it seems this documentary series has much going for it beyond the appeal and intrigue of the couple’s relationship. While there were many cameras trained on the two for so long, capturing and broadcasting their intimate, private lives for years, we’re excited to see a documentary that goes deeper than that footage when it would be easy to settle for an archival documentary.

Harry & Meghan is shaping up to be a serious look at what went on behind the scenes, and we’re hopeful for content that doesn’t sensationalize what the two went through to get out of the limelight.

Harry & Meghan: The Cast

While Harry & Meghan doesn’t have a traditional cast, it features interviews with various subjects and from a very talented crew. Many interview subjects are being kept under wraps at the moment, but the starring couple will feature prominently in the film. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have confirmed they have given interviews for the documentary. The Netflix page for the series also attests that historians, friends, and family of the couple will be giving interviews as well.

Beyond those featured on screen, the crew working on Harry & Meghan are also stars. Director Liz Garbus has been nominated for two Academy Awards and won two Primetime Emmy Awards for her documentary work on What Happened, Miss Simone? and Ghosts of Abu Ghraib. Producer Neha Shastry (Vice News) and Executive Producers Ben Browning (Promising Young Woman), Jon Bardin (Fauci), Don Cogan and Mark Monroe (Icarus), Angus Wall (The Social Network), and more are bringing their extensive talents to the series.

Release Date

Harry & Meghan is set to release on Netflix as a six-part series. The release is split into two parts. Part one is set to release on December 8th, which includes episodes one through three. Volume two, including episodes four through six, will release on December 15th.
