The producers for the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts say that they will replace the Emma Roberts photo that they mistakenly confused for Emma Watson. This announcement comes just two days after the special’s premiere on HBO Max, and hardcore fans took the time to share their frustration on the internet.

The special itself celebrates the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The special shares stories from all 8 Harry Potter films, with interviews featuring many of the stars from the movies, including the directors, cast members, and the iconic trio of Rupert Grint, Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe. There were some new stories that were revealed about relationships between cast members and some of the antics that went on behind the scenes.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

While there are plenty of new juicy details that Potterheads can obsess over, many fans noticed an error within the special. Now, most people probably didn’t even notice it. However, the most diehard fans saw an out-of-place photograph. During a segment in which Watson, who played Hermione Granger, discussed her childhood, a photo was shown that showed a young girl sitting at a table wearing Minnie Mouse ears. However, this young girl was actually Emma Roberts, not Watson.

Producers Fix A Magical Mistake

Of course, fans took to social media to voice their confusion and let people know about the odd error. The producers saw this confusion and have announced that they are going to fix this error. In a statement made with Entertainment Weekly, the producers congratulated Potter fans for discovering this error and that they will be uploading an error-free version soon.

“Well spotted Harry Potter fans! You brought an editing mistake of a mislabelled photograph to our attention. New version up shortly.”

The producers did not give an official date for when a fixed version will be up, but for now, you can still check out the reunion on HBO Max. It’s quite a satisfying reunion, especially if you have been feeling a lightning bolt-shaped void in your soul.

It’s unclear how this happened, especially with so many people involved in making this special. However, the producers are dealing with this issue as quickly as possible to make sure that everything is authentic. Hermione would undoubtedly have noticed this if she had looked it over. Harry Potter means a lot to many people, so the producers need to ensure that nothing stifles the emotional experience of returning to Hogwarts.
