Marvel fans don’t have to wait too much longer to join Clint Barton on his upcoming festive adventure Hawkeye, and several new images tease the stellar supporting cast set to join the former Avenger on Disney+. Alongside images of both Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, we also get a further look at Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mother; Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Barton’s early mentor; and Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez AKA Echo, a deaf superhero who will receive their own standalone series following their introduction in Hawkeye.

Hawkeye is set in post-blip New York City where former Avenger Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) AKA Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with 22-year-old skilled archer Kate Bishop to unravel a criminal conspiracy. The Disney+ series will take a lot of inspiration from Matt Fraction’s critically acclaimed comic book run that began back in 2012, while folding in elements from the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series will feature the same street-level type threats, including the introduction of the often hilariously inept gang known as The Tracksuit Mafia, with the events acting as a backdrop to the developing teacher-student relationship between Clint Barton and Kate Bishop.

The early reactions to the series so far have praised the street-level adventure, with Jeremy Renner recently stating that this change in scale will set Hawkeye apart from other MCU outings. “They’re all very different flavors, aren’t they?” the Avengers star said. “What we’ve been dealing with so far is Thanos, intergalactic stuff, and people flying around with lightning coming out of their orifices. But with Hawkeye, it’s a very accessible world. That’s what I think will separate it from the others. There’s a human element and a lot of emotion.”

The series will also introduce Kate Bishop to the Marvel fray, a character who is likely to become an MCU mainstay as she picks up the mantle of Hawkeye from Clint Barton. Created by writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung, Kate Bishop is a highly skilled archer and martial artist, as well as a character that Marvel fans have hoped to see on screen for some time, with actress Hailee Steinfeld having been a clear favorite to be cast in the role for just as long. Steinfeld is dealing well with the pressure though, assuring fans that Bishop’s debut will be worth the wait. “I’m aware this is a character that people have wanted to see brought to life for a very long time,” Steinfeld said. “I don’t think I’m worried necessarily. This show will meet their already high expectations.”

Tony Dalton and Very Farmiga are also featured in the final season, with Dalton recently opening up on playing the Swordsman. Created by Jonathan Igla, who also serves as head writer, and with Rhys Thomas leading the directing team, {Hawkeye} is scheduled to premiere its first two episodes on November 24, 2021 on Disney+, and will consist of six episodes, concluding on December 22 as part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
