Hawkeye was a surprising addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Disney+ offerings when it arrived towards the end of 2021. While everyone knew that it would see the return of the Avengers’ archer, played by Jeremy Renner, and would see Hawkeye gain himself a prodigy in Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), there were plenty of other surprises in store, such as the return of Daredevil villain Kingpin and a number of new introductions to the likes of Alaqua Cox as Echo and Fra Fee as Kazi, who has a prominent future in the comics. Now Fee has suggested that despite his character’s supposed demise in the show, he hopes that there will be a future for Kazi in the MCU.

There are many characters who have appeared to have met their maker in the MCU, only to be resurrected at a later date. This has included the multiple supposed deaths of Loki, and even returnee Kingpin, who was supposedly killed off camera in Hawkeye – like anyone believes that is what really went down. Speaking to Attitude, Fee explained that he hopes his character’s Hawkeye death is just another of those that will turn out to be a temporary thing. He said:
“Erm, the truth is, I don’t really know just yet. But I very much hope that Kazi can make an appearance. I wouldn’t put money on the fact he met an untimely end at the end of Hawkeye. No one’s ever dead in Marvel. I would be very hopeful and I’d certainly be thrilled to revisit the character and the world — I had such a good time.”
Marvel Could Have Bigger Plans For Kazi

As has been seen with Ms. Marvel, just because a character is brought into the MCU, it doesn’t automatically mean that their path or on screen iteration will always tie up with their comic book counterpart. While Ms. Marvel’s change in powers and origin have irked some viewers, that doesn’t mean Marvel Studios keep character origins and story arcs intact in future. In the case of Kazi, the comics see him turn into the Clown, a Joker-like villain, and while Fee is aware of that possible route for the character, when discussing his role last year, he couldn’t say if that is how is character would end up in the MCU. He said:
“I was fully aware of the origins of this character. And I think it was a really intriguing character in the comics,” Fee explained. “And there was a lot that I was able to take from his persona in the comic books. What I love about Kazi, he’s got this really intense, sort of brooding, everything’s simmering at the surface sense of himself. And I believe that’s because he’s harboring a lot of stuff. There’s a lot of issues and there’s a lot of painful things that have happened. And also deep rooted passions that make for this very intriguing character that doesn’t necessarily wear on his sleeve, unlike his counterparts in the mafia that are big, brash versions of themselves. He’s not, he’s got a quiet intensity. Whether or not it is to be seen that he takes on this persona that is traditionally viewed in the comics, we’re not sure. But like you said, I think that the comic book figure is inherently evil.”
