Girls premiered on HBO in 2013 and ran for six solid seasons. Lena Dunham was the creator, star, and genius behind the series depicting four young women navigating life in New York City after college. The fabulous cast consisted of Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Adam Driver, among others. It was a realistic and refreshing look into honest relationships between young women. At the same time, it was a love letter to life in New York City. The series had a great blend of comedy and drama, and featured many memorable guest stars. Girls was also executive produced by Judd Apatow, and it received critical acclaim and multiple major awards.

Even those not living in New York City could find something to relate to in Girls. The series depicts the confusion and turmoil that come when navigating love, careers, and friendship after college. It also showed you that, through all the confusion of life, having your friends there is what makes it worthwhile. The writing was absolutely brilliant, and completely embodied the unique vision of Dunham. The ensemble cast was perfect from beginning to end, and they all brought something to the table. The cast of Girls have all gone on to have prominent careers. Let’s look at where they are today.

Lena Dunham

Writer, director, producer, Lena Dunham is a leading force in show business. Shortly after Girls, Dunham served as an executive producer for the HBO series Camping. She then went on to produce the HBO series Generation, which focuses on the life and struggles of a group of Gen Z students. Dunham recently completed directing a film entitled Catherine Called Birdy, following the life of a young woman in medieval England. Fans and critics alike are always eager to see what project Dunham will take on next. In fact, per Variety, Dunham’s new film Sharp Stick premiered at Sundance earlier this year and is set to release in theaters later this summer.

Allison Williams

Allison Williams continues to work in film and television to this day. She iconically played the sinister role of Rose Armitage in Jordan Peele’s Get Out. She also played Kit Snicket in the television series A Series of Unfortunate Events. Most recently, Williams has taken roles in the science fiction film M3Gan, set to premiere in 2023. She is also starring opposite Matt Bomer in the upcoming Showtime series Fellow Travelers.

Jemima Kirke

Although Jemima Kirke seldom took acting roles before Girls, she is a very accomplished artist who still works to this day. Recently, Kirk acted in two popular television series, Sex Education and Conversations with Friends. She is also set to star in the upcoming series City of Fire, which follows the aftermath of a murder in Central Park.

Zosia Mamet

Zosia Mamet is a very talented actress, and was an absolute scene-stealer in Girls. After Girls, Mamet acted in films such as The Boy Downstairs and Under the Silver Lake. Most recently, Mamet has been playing Annie Mouradian in the acclaimed series The Flight Attendant opposite Kaley Cuoco, which can currently be streamed on HBO Max.

Adam Driver

Since the finale of Girls, Adam Driver has become a highly accomplished and respected actor, who has received multiple Academy Award nominations. He also played the iconic villain, Kylo Ren, in the recent Star Wars films. Currently, Driver is working on a few films at the moment, including Noah Baumbach’s White Noise, which reunites the two after their first film together, Marriage Story. He has also been cast in the much anticipated film Megalopolis, written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

Alex Karpovsky

Alex Karpovsky was another scene-stealer in Girls. Karpovsky has worked with many prominent filmmakers, including the Coen brothers. He has continued to act in film and television and recently played the character of Craig in the acclaimed series Homecoming. Currently, you can see Karpovsky in the Peacock series Angelyn, starring Emmy Rossum.

Christopher Abbott

Even though Christopher Abbott was only in a couple of seasons of Girls, he certainly showed his capabilities as an actor. He received high acclaim in Josh Mond’s James White. Recently, he played Kevin in Jerrod Carmichael’s directorial debut On the Count of Three. He is also acting opposite Margaret Qualley in the upcoming drama/thriller Sanctuary. The story follows the relationship between a dominatrix and her rich client that results in tragedy.
