The upcoming HBO limited series, The Palace, starring Kate Winslet, announces additional series. Alongside Winslet, French theater actor Guillaume Gallienne will star as her husband. The actor Gallienne is known for his roles in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and the French film Me, Myself and Mum. In addition to Gallienne, Winslet is joined by Hugh Grant (The Gentlemen). Winslet and Grant have previously collaborated on the 1996 Oscar-winning film Sense and Sensibility.

Matthias Schoenaerts (The Light Between Oceans) and Andrea Riseborough (Velvet Buzzsaw) are also slated to star in the series.

The Palace has not started shooting yet, which will most likely begin at the end of this month or the beginning of February. The multi-episode series is the story of an authoritarian regime and will follow the events of one year within the palace of an authoritarian regime as it begins to fall apart. The show promises to be a captivating look at the inner workings of a government on the verge of collapse.

The Palace has assembled a top-notch team to bring the show to life. Will Tracy (The Mindy Project) will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Accomplished director Stephen Frears (The Queen) will also take on an executive producer role alongside Winslet. Rounding out the executive producer team are Frank Rich, known for his work on (Veep) and Tracey Seaward (The Queen). The writing team includes Seth Reiss (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), Juli Weiner, known for her work on (Late Night with Seth Meyers), and playwright Sarah DeLappe.

Winslet won accolades and an Emmy for her role in the HBO limited series Mare of Eastham. The Titanic star has also starred in the HBO limited series, award-winning Mildred Pierce, for which she also won an Emmy. In addition to The Palace, Winslet is headlining the series Trust, which was announced in June.

Trust is based on Hernan Diaz’s novel by the same name and is about a wealthy financier who is unhappy with the portrayal of himself and his wife in a novel based on their lives. To set the record straight, he hires a secretary to ghostwrite his memoir. As she begins to work on the project, she becomes increasingly aware that the financier is rewriting history, including his wife’s place in it.

Trust has yet to begin filming.
