The second season of the Starz series Heels is on the way, but it remains a mystery as to when its arrival will come. Created by Michael Waldron, Heels is set in the world of indie pro wrestling, following Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig as two brothers carrying out a scripted feud in their late father’s wrestling promotion. Season 1 debuted in August 2021, and a renewal was soon to follow for season 2.
But as we come into 2023, we still have no word on when Heels will return with new episodes. It’s a topic that came up when Amell joined Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast (via ComicBook.com) to speak about the series. Addressing the hold-up with season 2, Amell explained that Lionsgate is still sorting out rights issues for various properties since acquiring Starz. That’s why there haven’t been fruitful updates on a release date, even with filming wrapping up last summer. As Amell puts it:

Rosenbaum pressed Amell on if he could possibly find out more information on Heels from anyone else involved with the show. Amell says that the showrunner is wrapping up the season finale, noting that the season is pretty much ready to start airing. From there, Amell glowed about season 2, feeling that it’s “way better” than the first season, which includes his own performance.
Heels season 2 does not yet have a premiere date.
