It has been confirmed that a second season of Hellbound is in the works. Premiering on Netflix in September 2021, the South Korean series tells the story of supernatural creatures who emerge to condemn people to Hell in spectacular fashion, to put it one way. The series was a hit for the streamer, but it wasn’t confirmed until Netflix’s TUDUM fan event that the show has been officially renewed. The announcement came in the form of a teaser trailer for season 2, which you can check out below.
“Brace yourselves. Hell on Earth returns,” a description of the clip reads.
Based on Yeon Sang-ho’s Hellbound, the Netflix series is written by Choi Gyu-seok and directed by Yeon Sang-ho. The first season starred Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah, and Yang Ik-june.

Hellbound’s Creator Teased Season 2
Netflix
Even with high viewership and strong reviews, it has taken a full year for Hellbound to get its renewal at Netflix. Given the streamer’s penchant for canceling shows early, it was starting to look like Hellbound may not be moving forward. But as far back as November of last year, the show’s creator was interested in doing another season after praising the wonderful experience he had working on Hellbound for the streamer.
“I will say that it’s true, the process of working with Netflix was very enjoyable on my end,” Yeon Sang-ho said, per Variety. “They very much agreed to and related to my creative vision, but they also created an environment where I didn’t have to think about anything else aside from focusing on my creativity in terms of distribution or when or how to release the series.”
On conceiving the series, he also said, “When we were working on this story, we were set on creating a world that was comparable to Hell, and created by people who are unable to tolerate uncertainty and we wanted to show what the society would look like when convictions are in conflict with one another. In order to do that, it meant that we needed to have multiple characters who had multiple convictions. That’s how I came about having a number of protagonists.”
Hellbound season 2 does not yet have a premiere date. You can check out the first season on Netflix.
