Henry Cavill’s return as Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes 2 has already got many fans hot under the collar, and the Man of Steel actor has explained why he wanted to come back for the Millie Bobby Brown-led Netflix sequel. While there are plenty of rumors doing the rounds right now about Cavill’s possible return as Superman in DC’s Black Adam and the actor is also working on season 3 of The Witcher, Cavill’s turn as the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes is one that has been glad to return to, but emphasized that it is also a role that he wanted to get just right. Enola Holmes 2 will arrive on Netflix on November 4 and sees Brown returning in the title role as the younger sister of the great Sherlock. While there have been many iterations of Sherlock put on screen, this time around Cavill’s sleuth is playing second fiddle to his equally gifted sibling.
“It’s important to get things right. It’s important to make sure the tone of things is not lost in the potential excitement of franchises and universes. Sherlock enjoys it enormously, much as it frustrates him and he’s scuppered by trying to work out who on Earth it is. I think part of him enjoys actually being genuinely challenged. It isn’t boring. He’s on the back foot, and against the ropes.”
Enola Holmes 2 is Expected to be Another Netflix Hit
Netflix
Millie Bobby Brown’s debut as Enola Holmes delivered a completely different character to the one many people have become used to seeing her play in Stranger Things. This time around, the gentle adventure comedy played to other strengths than those the young actress usually calls upon to play the traumatized Eleven in Netflix’s horror series and proved to be enjoyable for many, becoming a big hit for the streamer. Netflix describes the sequel as:
Along with Brown and Cavill, Enola Holmes 2 also sees the return of Helena Bonham Carter, Louis Partridge, Susie Wokama and Adeel Akhtar, as well as franchise newcomers David Thewlis and Sharon Duncan-Brewster.
“Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill), and opens her own agency – only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems. Resigned to accepting the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first official job: to find her missing sister. But this case proves to be far more puzzling than expected, as Enola is thrown into a dangerous new world – from London’s sinister factories and colorful music halls, to the highest echelons of society and 221B Baker Street itself. As the sparks of a deadly conspiracy ignite, Enola must call upon the help of friends – and Sherlock himself – to unravel her mystery. The game, it seems, has found its feet again!”
