After being cast as the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill has gone on to become one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. He has been the subject of many fancasts, especially with many wanting Cavill as the next James Bond. While Cavill has been most recognized for playing Superman, he has also won over the hearts of fans as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series. That is a role Cavill has since left behind, but he has continued to play Sherlock in Netflix’s Enola Holmes films.

In an age where viewers are more interested in franchises than actors, Cavill will likely become a box office draw in the coming years. Even the Dwayne Johnson-led Black Adam was heavily marketed as promising Cavill’s return. The world has become very aware of the star power that Cavill currently has. As we await his future roles, here’s a look at Henry Cavill’s 8 highest-grossing movies so far, ranked.

8 The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) — $75.4M

     Buena Vista Pictures

2002’s The Count of Monte Cristo featured a Cavill before he had entered his 20s. This was one of the films that marked the beginning of his career. The Count of Monte Cristo deviated from the 19th-Century adventure novel it was based on, but retained themes of love and betrayal, and was well-received by audiences and critics alike. Grossing over $75 million, the film was considered an entertaining popcorn flick from the early 2000s.

7 The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) — $107M

     Warner Bros. Pictures

Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was a spy adventure based on the 60s television series of the same name. The film starred Cavill and a pre-scandal Armie Hammer in its leading roles. Unfortunately for The Man from U.N.C.L.E., it only grossed $107 million. That’s no number to scoff at, but with a reported budget of $80 million, the film ultimately underperformed.

6 Stardust (2007)— $137M

     Paramount Pictures

Almost unrecognizable as Humphrey in 2007’s Stardust, blond hair was not among Cavill’s finest looks. Stardust was a romantic fantasy adventure that starred Claire Danes and Charlie Cox, with Cavill only being cast in a minor role. Other notable cast members included Sienna Miller, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ricky Gervais. Featuring a budget of over $70 million, Stardust went on to gross $137 million at the box office.

5 Immortals (2011) — $226.9M

     Relativity Media

Cavill played Theseus in Immortals, chosen by the Greek gods to fight against evil. Immortals shared some similarities with Zack Snyder’s 300, and was also produced by 300 producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton. This was Cavill’s highest-grossing film before he began playing Superman, earning $226.9 million. While Immortals has not remained in the public eye, it did feature some great action sequences and impressive fight choreography.

4 Justice League (2017) — $657.9M

Infamous for its well-documented difficult production, Justice League was not the win the studio and the fans were hoping for. A large portion of the film was re-shot, leading to an estimated production budget of $300 million and Justice League becoming one of the most expensive films ever made. Due to scheduling conflicts with Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Cavill’s mustache had to be digitally removed. Justice League fell short of making $700 million; what should have been a triumph ended up losing the studio money.

3 Man of Steel (2013) — $668M

The film that introduced Cavill as Superman, Man of Steel kicked off the DCEU (now dubbed the “DCU”) in 2013. Directed by Zack Snyder, Man of Steel addressed the complaints of 2006’s Superman Returns and was packed to the brim with action scenes. Snyder’s retelling of Superman’s origin story in a more grounded but stylized world was met with both praise and criticism. For the longest time, despite earning $668 million in box office gross, Man of Steel had yet to receive a direct sequel (Dawn of Justice did not serve as a “Man of Steel 2”). However, a sequel is now finally in the works.

2 Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) — $791.7M

Even after 20 years, the Mission: Impossible franchise has enjoyed continued success. The sixth installment, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, has become the highest-grossing film in the franchise. Cavill played the villainous August Walker, who performed the iconic move of “reloading” his biceps in a bathroom fight scene. Walker was the perfect antagonist to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. Fallout nearly grossed $800 million, outperforming all of Cavill’s Superman appearances other than Batman v. Superman.

1 Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) — $873.6M

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was years in the making and one of the most highly anticipated film in 2016. Not only did Batman and Superman share the screen together for the first time, it also established the Trinity with the arrival of Wonder Woman. The film proved to be very divisive, and as a result, DC’s shared universe was derailed as soon as it began. However, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was still profitable and ended up grossing over $870 million at the box office.
