In 2001, director Victor Salva introduced the world to one of the greatest cinematic monsters of all time in the hit movie Jeepers Creepers. The Creeper (Jonathan Breck) is a human-eating monster from unknown origins who emerges every 23rd Spring to feast for 23 days. It is impossible to kill due to its regenerative abilities from eating human body parts. His physical appearance, including razor sharp teeth and long bat-like wings, is that of nightmares. Indeed, the Creeper has been scaring audiences for years and the film series has gained a cult following among fans.
The first film, starring Justin Long and Gina Phillips, was a huge success and led toJeepers Creepers 2, also written and directed by Salva. The original film follows the Creeper stalking a brother and sister returning home from college, while the sequel follows the Creeper terrorizing a bus filled with high school students. Salva’sJeepers Creepers 3was released in 2017, but lacked the production value and scares compared to the first two films. Timo Vuorensola’s upcomingJeepers Creepers: Rebornwill be a reboot of the series and will be the first of a trilogy not involving Salva. Before the film is released, let’s take a look at the most frightening moments of the Jeepers Creepers series, ranked.

6 Trish and Darry Discover the Creeper’s Burial Ground in Jeepers Creepers
When Trish (Gina Phillips) and Darry (Justin Long) drive past the Creeper throwing bodies down a pipe in Jeepers Creepers, we get a terrifying long distance shot as the Creeper turns to look at them. They make the questionable decision to go back to investigate. While there, Darry falls down the hole and we are introduced to the Creeper’s terrifying house of pain. There is a sea of dead bodies tied to the walls of the underground pit. Darry discovers a victim who is still alive, but it seems that he no longer has lungs. We watch as the poor victim struggles for air, but unfortunately Darry is unable to save him. The idea of falling into a pit of dead bodies is scary enough, but the real terror comes from the suspence of whether or not the Creeper will return to catch them in the process.

5 The Police Station Scene in Jeepers Creepers
In this terrifying scene, we get a full-frontal look of the horrifying appearance of the Creeper. The sequence is filled with suspense as we watch the power go out in the police station as the Creeper begins to kill his victims. The scenery, lighting, and intensity all add to the fantastically scary sequence. As the Creeper finally captures Darry, the person who he has been hunting throughout the film, Trish begs the Creeper to take her instead. The Creeper looks at her with no empathy once so ever and flies away with Darry, showing us that the Creeper is a soulless monster with no emotions once so ever.
4 The Final Scene in Jeepers Creepers
United Artists
The final scene of the film is a slow moving shot into the Creeper’s workshop that induces suspence and terror as we wait to see what happends. The scariest part is the scenery of his workshop; layers of damp hallways and rusty pipes with little to know light. At the same time, we hear the infamous Jeepers Creepers song playing along with screams in the background as we move in closer. Finally, we see that Darry’s eyes have been removed, and the film ends with the Creeper’s piercing eyes coming into frame behind the holes in Darry’s head.
3 The Opening Scene in Jeepers Creepers 2
Jeepers Creepers 2 has possibly one of the scariest opening scenes in horror history. We watch as a boy tends to scarecrows on his father’s (Ray Wise) farm, but one of the scarecrows seems to be a little too life-like. In a terror-inducing shot, we watch one of the scarecrows quickly turn its head, revealing that it is actually the Creeper. The mix of suspense, shadows, and music all add together to create a gut-wrenching scene. We watch as the Creeper jumps off the post, grabs the boy by his skull, and flies away into the horizon.
2 The Creeper Picks Out His Prey on the Bus in Jeepers Creepers 2
One of the scariest parts of this scene is the claustrophobic setting of a school bus while a flesh eating monster stalks the students from the outside. We get a close up look on The Creeper’s face as he sniffs deeply and licks the window while trying to pick out his prey among the students. Jonathan Breck’s performance as the creeper is absolutely brilliant. His facial expressions and eyes are perfect in creating a horrifying monster, not to mention the very scary makeup. We watch in suspense as the the Creeper looks at one student to the next in deciding which of them will be his prey.
1 The Creeper Kills a Group of Teens With His Spear in Jeepers Creepers 3
Although Jeepers Creepers 3 is certainly the weakest film of the trilogy, it does bring back some characters and delivers some scares along the way. One scene in particular shows three teenage boys who unfortunately stumble across the Creeper’s iconic truck. After one of the teens gets stuck, and his friends try to help him, the Creeper emerges and gives us a terrifying shot of him with his wings spread. We also get a look at one of the Creeper’s infamous weapons put to use. His spear is powerful and possibly supernatural due to its strength and precision. The Creeper throws his spear and we watch it pierce through the chests of two of the boys, into a nearby tree. The teens are killed in an epic and terrifying way, making them three of the many victims of The Creeper.
