The death of network television doesn’t dare phase Dick Wolf as he prepares to launch another season of his wildly popular and long-running series Law & Order. The 21st season of Law & Order is a subset of the Emmy-Winning series that covers over 456 episodes, returning showrunner Rick Eid to the show’s helm. While the details remain scarce, Wolf is confident in the show’s return and adheres to the age-old mantra: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” as the revival grows near.
The original series that was responsible for creating the seemingly endless franchise, making its way back to television, brings a stir of excitement along with it and revitalizes the energy around the fandom. The news was shared with a Tweet to match hailing from Wolf’s production studio, Wolf Entertainment, posted on November 12, 2021. In the post, Wolf Entertainment included an official release date written in the iconic Law & Order font style.

What Can Be Expected of Season 21?
In an interview with Variety, Wolf cautioned that the formula would not see much change from the past seasons of Law & Order. He kept details pertaining to Season 21 fairly scarce, though was keen to mention that this would be “the same ‘Law & Order’ everyone knows from the first 20 years.” Additionally, in the same interview, he said that “…there’s really nothing to fix, we just want to continue telling great stories. Casting as always will be three cops and three D.A.s.”
The 21st Season of Law & Order will run in congruence with Special Victim Unit and Organized Crime, which debuted in 2021. Previously, Wolf had mentioned that he was not worried about the lack of source material when discussing Season 19 and beyond of Law & Order, and that he turns to the front page of the New York Post when in search of new inspiration for his plotlines.
Where The New Season Will Take Place and Who Will Be Cast?
Reports have indicated that Season 21 has not locked down a specific cast yet, though, has ensured that the upcoming additional chapter into the Law & Order televised universe will pick up where things were previously left off on. High hopes of the original cast returning have been expressed by fans, and there have been talks of Law & Order veterans making their way back into the franchise in some capacity. As of now, Hugh Dancy and Anthony Anderson have been announced as featured cast members.
When Will Season 21 Air?
Per the Tweet shared by Wolf Entertainment, Law & Order Season 21 is set to return on February 24, 2022. The 21st season will air at 8:00 p.m. in Eastern Time on NBC and is expected to grant access to the new season through the NBC website. Additionally, there is the expectation that NBC could choose to stream their latest leg of the Law & Order franchise through their own streaming service, Peacock, in parallel to premiering episodes through the traditional medium of in-house television.
Law & Order, as well as a number of other Wolf Entertainment titles, continue to air into 2022 and have outlived canceled spin-offs such as Law and Order: Los Angeles.
