The Beatles’ legacy has been honored in several ways, few as memorable as famed Broadway director Julie Taymor’s Across The Universe. The 2007 film took some of The Beatles’ most iconic songs and turned them into a highly stylized musical centered around the love story of Jude and Lucy. Taymor expertly crafted an cinematic experience that was carried by the legendary music of the Beatles. The music that the Fab Five provided perfectly told the story of Jude and Lucy against a 1970s backdrop.

Across the Universe featured several well known actors including Evan Rachel Wood as Lucy and Jim Sturgess as Jude. While talks of a sequel have actually occured, the story of Jude and Lucy remains. Despite Taymor’s direction and some impressive musical performances, Across The Universe wasn’t a big enough hit to warrant a sequel. The film has its flaws, but its still one of the more memorable films to include the Beatles in some form. Meanwhile, the actors of Across the Universe have shown up in some notable works since the film was first released. This is what the cast of Across the Universe is up to now.

4 Jim Sturgess

Sturgess led Across the Universe as the British worker who inevitably falls in love with Lucy. Since Across The Universe he’s gone on to act in several productions including Cloud Atlas and Geostorm. At one point he was even considered for the role of Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. Sturgess is currently starring in the Apple TV series Home Before Dark. The mystery series is based loosely on the life of journalist Hilde Lysiak. Sturgess plays the show’s version of Lysiak’s father, Matthew Lisko. In the series, Hilde Lisko moves to the town where her father once lived where she takes it upon herself to solve a cold case.

3 Joe Anderson

Joe Anderson rounded out the main cast playing Max, a referece to the song “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.” His character arc provided much of the Vietnam War-era drama in the film. Since then he’s appeared in films like The Grey and Twilight: Breaking Dawn. He last appeared in AMC’s Soulmates alongside IT’s Bill Skarsgård and Succession’s Sara Snook.

2 Salma Hayek

     Marvel Studios

Salma Hayek had a memorable cameo as a singing nurse during the “Happiness is a Warm Gun” number. Previously, Hayek had acted under the direction of Taymor for the film, Frida, for which she received an Oscar nomination for her turn as the legendary Mexican artist. Hayek’s latest role was that of Ajak in Marvel’s Eternals. There, she played the spiritual leader of the race of advanced beings sent to protect humanity from the evil Deviants. While the critical consensus was mixed, just as it was for Across the Universe, Eternals still did very well at the box office.

1 Bono

     Illumination

Like a certain infamous U2 album, Bono showed up in Across The Universe without anyone expecting or asking for it. Despite his intrusion, he wasn’t too bad in in his brief cameo, even if he looked like he was cosplaying as Robin Williams. Bono was fully decked out in his Doctor Robert getup during his rendition of “I am The Walrus.” Bono’s acting credits are rare, but he can now be seen in the animated musical Sing 2. There, he plays a reclusive singing lion named Clay Calloway. Presumably, he was invited to take part in the film and didn’t just show up unannounced.
