A new poster has been released for the upcoming sequel Hocus Pocus 2. On Aug. 30, Disney+ reminded subscribers that the movie will start streaming in exactly one month, and the announcement was made with the release of a new poster. It features the Sanderson Sisters front and center with the film’s lead stars: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. The tagline teases, “Back and more glorious than ever.”

The new film is set about three decades after the original Hocus Pocus with the Sanderson Sisters once again returning to Salem. This time, they’ll have to get past the modern-day youths of the city. The new kids will also be getting some help with thwarting the Sanderson Sisters, as just recently, a first look image of Billy Butcherson’s return was revealed with Doug Jones reprising the role. It’s one of many callbacks to the original film that will be in store for fans with the sequel.

Anne Fletcher directs Hocus Pocus 2 with a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo. Along with Midler, Parker, Najimy, and Jones, the film features Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, and Sam Richardson.

Hocus Pocus 2 Keeps Nostalgia Alive

“I was really happy that Billy comes out of the grave talking,” Jones said of his return as Billy Butcherson, hoping the new film will bring even more fans to Hocus Pocus, via EW. “It is seamless between the first movie and the second, that’s the first thing I felt. It keeps the pureness and nostalgia alive and well for those who grew up with the first movie, and for any new fans we’re gathering now will be excited about modernization for the current time we’re in.”

On what both the Sanderson Sisters and the new lead characters have in common, director Anne Fletcher also told the outlet, “At the end of the day, the movie is about sisterhood, it’s about sticking together through thick and thin, and being there for one another.”
