House of the Dragon has everything that made Game of Thrones great. The HBO prequel series features soaring dragons, massive battle sequences, and political drama as several players vie for the Iron Throne. And in terms of audience success, House of the Dragon is on par with its predecessor. The debut episode of season 1, which premiered last month on Aug. 21, saw 10 million viewers tune in during launch night. Over the following week, the number grew to 20 million worldwide.

According to a report from Deadline, the show continues to rack up achievements as House of the Dragon breaks Sky viewing records in the U.K. The series is the biggest U.S. drama launch and the biggest Sky Atlantic series premiere in its 11-year-history, as the platform accounted for more than 4 million viewers. According to Deadline and the U.K. ratings agency, Barb, House of the Dragon is currently on par with shows like Netflix’s Stranger Things and the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sky MD of content Zai Bennett released a statement regarding the success of the prequel series through three episodes.
