Spoiler Alert: Possible Minor Spoilers Ahead for House of the Dragon Season 2

2022 was an excellent year for Game of Thrones. Despite the enormous criticism received after the end of the series, the arrival of House of the Dragon, the first spin-off of the show, revived the love of fans for the universe of George R. R. Martin, breaking viewing records for HBO and its streaming platform.

As expected after its great performance, the network quickly renewed the series for a second season, which will continue to delve into the history of the Targaryen House, its rise to power in Westeros, and its subsequent fallout, which would almost lead to its end, until the arrival of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen.

Although filming for the second installment hasn’t started yet, some details have come to light. Previously, one of the producers confirmed that the “Blood and Cheese” arc would be part of the new episodes, and it seems that casting has begun for a central character in that plot, as a new-self tape has revealed a character that might have referred to Cheese. Watch it on Redanian Intelligence.

In the books, Daemon hires assassins, a former City Watch sergeant, and a rat-catcher familiar with all the hidden passageways in the Red Keep to avenge Luke’s death. They will be in charge of sneaking into the castle and advancing the war that has two factions of the Targaryens at odds.

Game of Thrones and Its Universe Beyond House of the Dragon

     Warner Bros. Television Distribution

We know that House of the Dragon will not be the last story within the Game of Thrones universe to hit the screen. Warner Discovery seeks to make the most of its successful franchises, and the world of Westeros is one of them, so a series centered on characters created by Martin will continue to come over time.

One of those who will return to continue his story is Jon Snow, who will have his own series with Kit Harington not only involved as the protagonist but also working behind the scenes to carry out the project.

Another who will have his own show is Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), whom we met in House of the Dragon, and will show his adventures on the high seas. In addition, another prequel series in the works centers on adventures in the Westerosi waters, and it will be titled 10,000 Ships. Last but not least, the Tales of Dunk and Egg are reportedly set to have their own spin-off, which could be a limited series.

Additionally, there are two animated shows in development, The Golden Empire and another untitled project that would focus on unexplored areas of Martin’s universe.
