Another new tribute for late comedy legend Bob Saget was featured in the first episode of How I Met Your Father. Previously, Saget played the adult Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) on How I Met Your Mother by serving as the show’s narrator, speaking as Josh many years in the future. Saget narrated the sitcom from 2005-17.

A Hulu original, How I Met Your Father, takes a similar premise with the spinoff. It stars Hilary Duff as a hopeless romantic looking for her soulmate with Kim Cattrall narrating the story as the future version of Duff’s character. Because Saget was such an important part of the original show, Hulu’s spinoff included a nod to the actor and comedian when closing out the pilot episode. It ends with a touching title card that reads: ‘In loving memory of Bob Saget.’

Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger developed How I Met Your Father for Hulu. The series also stars Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Leighton Meester. Time will have to tell if it manages to reach similar levels of success achieved by its parent series. How I Met Your Mother lasted for nine seasons and over 200 episodes, and in addition to its long run, it was nominated for 30 Emmy Awards, winning 10 of them.

Bob Saget Passed Away Unexpectedly After One Final Comedy Show

It was announced on Jan. 9 that Bob Saget had died at the age of 65. He was found unresponsive in his Orlando hotel room after performing the previous night. His cause of death is currently under investigation, but it is believed that the comedian passed away in his sleep, as he was tucked into bed with all of the lights off when he was found. A stroke or heart attack is the working theory.

Saget was still very active with his comedy tour and had just posted several new dates that were coming in the spring. He had shown no signs of illness, and because 65 is still way too young to go, his death came as a tremendous shock to everyone. His widow, Kelly Rizzo, was also just as stunned as she was heartbroken, but she has since said she feels touched by all of the love and tributes Saget has been getting since.

“Bob was a force,” Rizzo said on Instagram. “I’m sure every one of you out there, whether you knew him or not, was in awe of the enormous outpouring of love and tribute for this special man. It was like nothing anyone has ever seen. I am so appreciative for the kindness and support from loved ones and strangers. Everyone loves Bob and everyone wants to make sure I’m ok. And for that, I’m eternally grateful.”
