For anyone who doesn’t know that Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have a great friendship, Jackman’s latest online dig at the Deadpool star could make them think that he isn’t happy that Reynolds could find himself nominated for a Best Song Oscar. In a new video, Jackman is seen begging The Academy to dismiss the idea of “validating” Reynolds by putting him up for the Oscar for Best Song for the track “Good Afternoon” from his Apple TV+ movie Spirited.

Of course, Jackman means no malice at all in his plea, as anyone who has followed the pair’s long-running “feud” on social media. They will soon be seen teaming up as Deadpool and Wolverine in Deadpool 3, sending both characters spiraling into the MCU in what is expected to be one of the hits of 2024. With that movie filming this year, Jackman’s need for Reynolds to be snubbed by the Oscars so that he doesn’t have to put up with “insufferable” Reynolds during their Deadpool 3 shoot. After praising the song, Jackman said:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the Best Song category would make the next year of my life insufferable. I have to spend the year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool. Trust me, it would be impossible, it would be a problem.”

Why Is Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool 3 Wolverine Return A Big Deal?

     20th Century Fox

Of all the characters that have ever been portrayed on screen from the world of Marvel Comics, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is one of the most-loved iterations of any character. With fans having accepted that following 2017’s Logan Jackman seemed to have rounded off his Wolverine journey, there are always rumors of the possibility of a return. Once Marvel opened up the MCU’s multiverse, those rumors began to surface more and more.

Jackman’s Wolverine was said to be making an appearance in 2021’s Loki as well as last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, as those titles came and went, it seemed that Wolverine was not coming into the MCU until he arrived with the X-Men and a new actor sometime in the future. Then came Deadpool 3’s surprise announcement that Jackman would be teaming up with Ryan Reynolds for what seems to be one last huzzah for the Marvel hero.

The popularity of Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool alone would be enough to carry his MCU adventure. However, adding Jackman’s Wolverine into the mix has not only guaranteed the success of Deadpool 3 but potentially turned it into an R-rated record-breaker to watch out for in 2024. As Jackman said in his video, the movie starts filming soon. That means fans will be on the lookout for every leaked image and set detail they can get their hands on while they attempt to piece together the story that will bring the two lead characters together, and also any sign of what potential threat the MCU’s multiverse is going to throw their way.

Deadpool 3 is currently expected to arrive in cinemas on November 8, 2024.
