Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will stay as angry and fierce as he was earlier after the character and his fellow X-Men take residence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe under Disney’s roof. Recently, Daredevil made his debut in the mainstream MCU in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. The character’s traits, arc, and behavioral attributes were considerably toned down compared to his appearance in Netflix’s Daredevil. The changes in his former brutal personality were received with a divisive response from fans. However, that wouldn’t be the case with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Talking to AP Entertainment, Hugh Jackman confirmed his return as Wolverine under Disney/Marvel wouldn’t change his character. He confirmed that Wolverine and Deadpool will be taking on each other in the threequel and that fans can rest assured that Logan is not getting any gentler.

The decision to keep Deadpool III R-Rated will help Marvel give Wolverine a more ferocious debut. In all his previous nine appearances, Hugh Jackman was able to do his best in Logan as the restricted rating of that film allowed him to go as brutal as possible with his anger and vengeance. This would be the first time Marvel Studios would release an R-Rated movie. However, Marvel’s signature humor would not lose its grasp in the movie as the Merc with the Mouth is well known for his dark comedy.
AP Entertainment: Is he gonna be an angrier Logan or a kinder, gentler Logan?
Jackman: A what? There’s no choice. He’s definitely the angrier, acerbic, grumpy [Wolverine] and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is.
Hugh Jackman Reflects on His Return as Wolverine
Marvel Studios
Hugh Jackman decided to retire as Wolverine after Logan. His character met his demise in the film, bringing the franchise to a noble end. In his conversation, Jackman described his excitement to reprise his role again and said he is already preparing for the role.
Jackman also confirmed that he had read a part of the script but, of course, refused to give any details.
I can tell you; I’m going to have the time of my life. I can tell you that I’ve started back at the gym, and I’m eating a lot. And I feel bad for the cast of ‘Music Man’ [for] the amount of protein shakes I’m having. But… it’s a lot of fun. You know, when it’s been five years, and I really never thought I’d come back, and I’m really, really excited about it.
Jackman has already teased how Wolverine and Deadpool will throw punches at each other. It looks like watching the two engaging in the humorously enthralling fight and sharing the screen in this long-awaited production will be some experience.
Actually, I do know a little bit about the script, but I’m not gonna tell you.
Deadpool III is slated to release on November 8, 2024. It was going to release on September 6, 2024, before Blade took that date. Deadpool III will be the first film of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
