Hugh Jackman To Voice Big Greg In Hulu S Upcoming Animated Series Koala Man

After spending many years in the X-Men franchise as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman will be featured in the leading role of another superhero story. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Logan star has just been cast in a lead voice role for Koala Man, an animated series that’s currently in the works at Hulu. The series comes from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland in collaboration with Michael Cusack (Bushworld Adventures).

Jackman will be providing the voice of Big Greg, the “most well-liked man in Dapto and the head of the twon council, who has only known success.” He is the direct supervisor to Kevin (Cusack), the man who secretly fights crime under the alias of Koala Man - though Big Greg often gets the credit for Koala Man’s accomplishments. While Marvel fans will know Jackman best for his long-running role as Wolverine, the actor does have experience with voiceover work. This includes providing the voices of main characters in the animated movies Flushed Away and Happy Feet. He also recently did voiceover work for the animated shows Big Mouth, Human Resources, and The Simpsons. In recent years, the actor’s live-action performances include other movies like The Greatest Showman, Bad Education, and Reminiscence.

Koala Man Is the Latest Animated Project from Justin Roiland

Koala Man is produced by 20th Television Animation, a unit of Disney Television Studios. That’s the company behind the Hulu original Solar Opposites, which was also co-created by Justin Roiland, who developed the series with Mike McMahan. Solar Opposites has proven to be a big hit for Hulu and has a fourth season in the works after just recently premiering season 3 on the streaming platform.

Roiland and Koala Man creator Michael Cusack previously collaborated on the animated project Bushworld Adventures, an 11-minute rick and Mortal special that aired on Adult Swim on April Fools Day in 2018. Cusack is also known for his viral YouTube video “Ciggy Butt Brain” which is what originally captured Roiland’s attention, leading to their collaborations. Additionally, Cusack’s work also includes the Adult Swim animated series YOLO: Crystal Fantasy.

Koala Man does not yet have a streaming premiere date set at Hulu. With Jackman’s casting in place, more news about the series is likely to be coming soon.
