In a stunning development, Vin Diesel is the first human being created by God. Sorry, 7.9 billion other folx worldwide (and that’s not even counting all the billions of souls who passed through Earth before us), Diesel is Adam… making all of our existences sometime in the distant future.

According to a tweet posted on Thursday, October 27 from indie theater operator Alamo Drafthouse NYC, “Scientists at Princeton University have reconstructed this 3D model of how Adam, the first human being created by God, might have looked.” Check out the original tweet and what appears to be a CGI rendering of Vin Diesel-as-first-man below:

Undeniably, the image - which doesn’t appear to come from a research project at Princeton University - does look exactly like the voice actor behind Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The Vin-Diesel-as-first-man joke tweet rapidly spread across Twitter and currently has more than 280,000 likes and 60,000 retweets.

Many fans were fooled at first. So, in a subtle wink, Alamo Drafthouse NYC followed up the original tweet with the comment, “Just a reminder that we’re a movie theater, not an academic journal. That said, here’s our soundcloud,” linking not to a SoundCloud account, but to the theater’s landing page.

Celebrities Across Twitter Got in on the Vin Diesel-As-First-Man Joke

Alamo Drafthouse NYC’s viral tweet is a joke based on earlier viral memes, including one that purported to show a 3D model of how Mary’s husband, Joseph, and said to be made by Stanford researchers, might have looked. Turns out, he looked like the spitting image of Andre the Giant.

With the latest take on the viral meme, celebs and fans across the Twitterverse got in on the joke. Author Roxanne Gay was among those to respond to Alamo Drafthouse NYC, writing: “This man lives his life a quarter mile at a time,” referencing a line of dialogue spoken by his FF character Dominic Toretto in 2015’s Furious 7.

Another actor to get in on the joke, was Diesel’s rumored Inhumans reboot co-star, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ actor Anson Mount, who quote tweeted the Alamo Drafthouse NYC joke with: “You’re telling me we’re all descended from Vin Diesel?”

One fan added: “Adam chilling with black adam,” referencing the similarities between Diesel’s appearance and Dwayne Johnson.
