With over 40 acting credits to his name, Ian Bohen has become more of a household name, but for some reason, he’s still lesser known than other popular actors. Bohen has been acting since 1992, when he earned a guest spot on an episode of Disney Channel’s The Torkelsons. He continued to make waves in smaller roles on shows like Walker: Texas Ranger, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Boy Meets World, and even starred alongside the cast of Dawson’s Creek. From there, Bohen played an unnamed cop in Gotham City-based Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
Over the course of the last decade, Bohen’s career has remained steady and ongoing. He has been nominated for multiple awards including an Action on Film Award for his work in the 2008 film Interpretation, a 2017 Saturn Award for his work on Teen Wolf, and a 2022 Screen Actors Guild Award for his work on Yellowstone with his fellow cast. Bohen is currently at work on the Teen Wolf movie reboot, alongside Tyler Posey, which is set to release on Paramount+ later this Fall 2022. While there is nothing wrong with being a career guest star, it’s obvious Bohen’s performances deserve more recognition. From humble roots to continued success, here are Ian Bohen’s best performances, ranked.
6 Wind River
Acacia Entertainment
Wind River is a suspenseful murder mystery set in the snowy mountains of the Wyoming Native American Reservation. Starring alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner, Bohen, in his few scenes, dazzles as Evan, an instinctive county deputy, just trying to do the right thing. Evan has an amazing line that completely changes the film, but viewers won’t even realize it’s impact until after the fact. Wind River is so much more than just solving who did it; it is instead a look at understanding a world most people know nothing about and the crimes that sometimes don’t get closure.
5 Yellowstone
Paramount+
Yellowstone is a beautifully shot television show that will appeal to anyone who lives for the cowboy vibe. It is about a family headed by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who is trying to protect and save their ranch land from those who would like to take it from them. Bohen’s character, Ryan, is a ranch hand and livestock agent that tries to help out wherever he can. Throughout the seasons of Yellowstone, there hasn’t been a lot of character development for Ryan, but it’s possible we could get something like that when Season 5 premieres on Paramount+ later this year.
4 Superman & Lois
Warner Bros.
Superman & Lois tells the story of the duo’s children and how they handle family and superhero life together with whatever evils come along that aim to take down Superman himself. Bohen plays Lieutenant Mitch Anderson, alongside his former Teen Wolf co-star Tyler Hoechlin, who plays Clark Kent/Superman. Bohen has this amazing way of playing a character where you never know if he’s the good guy or the bad guy until the very end — and that is the case with his character in Superman & Lois.
3 Major Crimes
TNT
Bohen did a short four-episode arc on the police investigative show Major Crimes in 2012. His character, Daniel Dunn, was actually integral to the development of other main characters within the show and led to some truths being revealed. Daniel is not the nicest person, and Bohen does a great job of showing how moments of doubt can change someone’s life. Major Crimes is a spin-off of similar crime show The Closer and continues the main storyline of the investigations of the crime unit of the LAPD.
2 Chicago P.D.
NBC
Chicago P.D. is another crime-solving show that people either really love or really hate. Bohen plays Police Sergeant of Internal Affairs Edwin Stillwell, alongside Jason Beghe. Bohen does an amazing job of playing that classic character that you love to hate. He is charismatic and smarmy, giving the viewer tons of reasons to hate him in the process. Eventually, he makes a mistake and gets caught for something that puts him in a situation that removes his character from the shows’ storyline. NBC reports that Season 10 of Chicago P.D. is set to premiere in the Fall of 2022.
1 Teen Wolf
MTV
It is obvious that those who know Bohen probably know him for playing the slightly psychotic and occasionally evil uncle, Peter Hale, on Teen Wolf. Bohen portrays Peter perfectly by showcasing that not having someone to rely on can mess with your head. His character is a deep look at how the human psyche can be impacted. Again, Peter is a character people either love or hate depending on their views of him. Overall, no matter where you fall on the spectrum, Bohen has to be praised for his snarky one-liners and side comments that add levity to an otherwise serious moment.
