Hip-hop icon and TV legend Ice-T is all set to receive his Hollywood Walk of Fame honors in February. Variety reports that the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star is scheduled to have his Walk of Fame star installed on Feb. 17. Ice-T has since reacted to the news with a post on Instagram, finding it surreal to be going from getting arrested in Hollywood to having his name placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“When I think back about all the times I was arrested in Hollywood…. This is a trip,” he says.

On inducting Ice-T, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez adds, “Ice-T is a cultural icon and a success both in the music and television industries. His fans will be very excited to see their favorite performer placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

Ice-T’s star ceremony will include appearances by fellow rapper Chuck D along with Law & Order vet Dick Wolf. It’s also been noted that his star will be near the names of other music legends like Thelonius Monk, Mama Cass Elliott, John Denver, and Herbie Hancock.

Ice-T rose to fame with his rap music in the 1980s and 90s, at one point releasing a hit song called “Cop Killa.” The rapper would start getting into acting and in 2000, he started appearing in his notable role as Odafin Tutuola in the long-running police drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. It’s a role he continues to play to this day with SVU still going strong in its 24th season. At this point, Ice-T has appeared in more than 500 episodes and has no intentions of walking away from the franchise just yet, still hoping for at least another season.
“Every year I just hope for the next season, can we get a nice 25, a nice quarter, I think so," he said in November. “I think we’ve still got momentum, I think people are still digging it. I came on the show for four episodes, so this was a ride I never expected.”
Ice-T has also appeared in various films over the years. His first roles were in the Breakin’ movies in the 1980s, and he wuold go on to appear in films like Johnny Mnemonic, Leprechaun in the Hood, 3000 Miles to Graceland, and Bloodrunners. In more recent years, he did voiceover work for UglyDolls and appeared in the film Equal Standard.
