Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be getting a new ending, according to legendary composer John Williams. Williams recently appeared in Italy to tease his score for the Indiana Jones sequel, and revealed that filming was still underway, stating that production has “another ending to shoot.” See what John Williams had to say below courtesy of BadTaste.it.
While Williams does not provide any further details regarding what this ending might involve, or why “another” ending is needed, it is sure to have Indiana Jones fans a little concerned about the state of the highly anticipated sequel. Especially when there have been rumors recently regarding a test screening that did not go well…
“So we have just about completed the film. We have maybe another ending to shoot and to record, maybe in a couple weeks.”
Those rumors claimed that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny ends with Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge replacing Harrison Ford as the lead of the franchise. Potentially confirming another, long-running rumor. The test screening did not go down will with a viewer who claims to have been in attendance, with several endings all showing Waller-Bridge’s character, Helena, picking up the iconic hat and continuing the series.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold has since denied these rumors saying, “No one will ever replace Indiana Jones. Not in any script. Not in any cut. Never discussed.” Ford himself has also (sort of) denied that he will pass the baton on to someone else.
While these details of the ending may not be accurate, is it possible that Mangold has decided to change the ending anyway? At the very least it sounds like the ending to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is not set in stone. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until next year to find out just how Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny decides to wrap up Harrison Ford’s legacy.
