Inside Amy Schumer is returning for a fifth season this month following a six-year hiatus. This time around, the sketch comedy series is headed to a new home and will air on Paramount+. A newly released trailer is giving viewers a glimpse at some of the big names joining Amy Schumer on-screen. Guest stars will include Ellie Kemper, Olivia Munn, Cazzie David, Bridget Everett, Michael Ian Black, Tim Meadows, Amber Tamblyn, Chris Parnell, Jesse Williams, and Laura Benanti.
The trailer also offers a sneak peek at some characters Schumer will portray during the show’s five-episode run, including an astronaut, a mock Bachelorette contestant, a patriot, a mother, and a detective. In a statement to People, Schumer shared her excitement for the series’ upcoming season:
The Emmy Award-winning series was created, co-produced, and co-written by Schumer and originally aired on Comedy Central for four seasons beginning in 2013. During its initial run, Inside Amy Schumer was nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards, winning the award in 2015 for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
“Bringing back this show has really been so fun. I just want to make people laugh and I’m proud of this new season. Episodes we created almost 10 years ago still resonate today which is wild, but it made me realize we could do it again.”
Season five will feature five episodes, with two episodes available to stream on Paramount+ October 20. The remaining episodes will follow weekly. Season five of Inside Amy Schumer is produced by Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment Studios.
Schumer’s Success On and Off-Screen
In 2015, Schumer made her feature film debut in Trainwreck, a romantic comedy directed by Judd Apatow and written by Schumer. Schumer gained recognition for her work on the film both on and off camera, earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical and a Writers Guild Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. In 2016, she published The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, a memoir that topped The New York Times Best Seller list shortly after its release. In 2018, she earned a Tony Award nomination for the Broadway production of Meteor Shower.
Schumer went on to star in Snatched, I Feel Pretty, The Humans and Hulu’s comedy-drama series Life & Beth, where she also served as writer, director, and executive producer. Life & Beth was positively received by critics and audiences and this April, it was renewed for a second season. Schumer most recently appeared in Bros and Only Murders in the Building.
