Separate from the ongoing animated series at Prime Video, there are plans to turn the hit comic book series Invincible into a live-action film. Created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a teenage boy and the son of the planet’s most powerful superhero, Omni-Man. After Mark acquires his own superpowers, he learns the true nature of what his father really wants from the planet, putting the two at odds with one another. Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) voices Mark in the animated series with J.K. Simmons (Oz) providing the voice of Omni-Man.

Reports that a live-action adaptation will be made for the big screen go back years, but that project cannot seem to make traction with no significant updates. However, Kirkman recently confirmed that there are still plans to make the movie, though it could end up taking a while longer with no production start date in place at this time. Kirkman will produce, but no director has yet been attached, and casting choices probably won’t be made until the project actually gets greenlit.

For now, fans are doing some of their own fancasting for the Invincible movie. The Invincible TV Show Returns This Year

The animated series premiered on Prime Video in 2021. An instant hit, it was met with widespread praise, bringing in high viewership. That led to Prime Video renewing the series for another two seasons, though the wait for new episodes to arrive hasn’t been short. The good news is that both seasons have been getting worked on simultaneously so the wait for season 3 should not be quite so painful.

Recently, it was announced that Invincible will be back in late 2023, though an exact premiere date has yet to be announced. That will make the wait between the first two seasons almost three years long. Perhaps there will be some sneak peeks to hold fans over in the meantime, as fans saw with the release of a teaser video last week. You can watch that video below.
