Exploration of Mark’s Relationships
Mark Grayson was the central character to the series and will continue to be throughout if the Invincible comics are an indication of where the plot will go. His fights against his enemies were a huge focus for the first season, but, more significantly, we saw his relationships in all aspects of his life, including family, friends, and his romantic life, developed throughout the series. Indeed, as exciting as the action was, it was the more grounded and emotional moments between the characters that made Invincible so irresistible.
Mark’s relationship with Amber, in particular, was an important part of the first season. Their relationship was the one he struggled to maintain the most as he balanced his newfound powers and the pressures of superhero life. It’s likely that we will see this relationship face more challenges as the stakes increase in the second season. On top of that, Mark’s relationship with his parents (Nolan and Debbie) is also important, as his father taught him how to use his powers while his mother provided comfort. Nolan, more importantly, proved to be as much a foe as he was a father, so now that he’s off-planet, season two should dive into Mark and Debbie’s new family dynamic.
Omini-Man’s Redemption Story

Viewers of Invincible season one witnessed the evil nature of Omni-Man over the course of the season, and he was quickly established as the super-powered being that the heroes needed to defeat and a pillar of evil for the viewers to root against. It seems towards the end of the series that his character may possess some human traits, which would be interesting for the second season to expand on.
At the end of the first series, we witness Omni-Man sparing Mark and leaving the planet to begin the next chapter of his life. While it’s still unclear if Omni-Man’s objective of conquering Earth for the Viltrumite Empire still stands, there’s a lot of room for his character to be redeemed, especially with respect to his and Mark’s relationship.
Return of The Order
The Order is a villain organization that houses some of the deadliest supervillains on the planet. The Order’s leader Mister Liu made a short cameo appearance at the end of season one, which promises a possible return in the upcoming season. According to the comics, Liu employs many minor villains, who could also potentially play a part (or be introduced) in season two. Indeed, what made season one so strong was the integration of many beloved villains from the comics, expanding the Invincible universe while also laying the groundwork for multiple plots and subplots for Mark to follow. In Episode 3, in the scene where the Mauler Twins break out of prison, we catch a brief glimpse of Dupli-Kate’s brother, Multi-Paul, who is a member of The Order. Perhaps with Omni-Man being off-planet, there’s room for The Order to fill his spot as Mark’s main antagonist in season 2.
More Villains from the Comics
An obvious way for the story to develop would be for Invincible to introduce more villains to the franchise, since there are plenty from the comics to choose from. It’s already been confirmed that she second season will feature Conquest and Angstrom Levy, both of whom we are excited to see. They are both very powerful villains, who will prove to be formidable opponents for Mark. Conquest is one of the strongest fighters from the comics, which will make him a difficult opponent for Mark to face, and in the comic books, he proves to be just as strong an opponent as Omni-Man. This could be explored with some dramatic scenes. Angstrom Levy, on the other hand, is a different kind of threat due to his knowledge of the multiverse and his intellect, which are just as deadly. There’s also plenty of other villains from the comic that could be introduced throughout.
