Square Enix has unveiled a new Iron Man suit for the character’s appearance in the 2020 video game Marvel’s Avengers. Tony Stark’s nanotechnology armor inspires the new suit he donned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Avengers: Endgame.
Square Enix is treating this as a tribute to Tony Stark’s sacrifice at the movie’s end. Taking to the game’s official Twitter handle, Square Enix posted an image of Iron Man donning a suit similarly to Robert Downey Jr. in the film’s final moments. Iron Man is sitting on his knees, almost ready to snap the tech-fashioned gauntlet he creates using his suit’s nano-particles.

The image is further detailed to include other references from the movie in the new Iron Man skin. The suit appears to have sustained damages like Robert Downey Jr.’s suit suffered during the movie’s Battle for Earth against Thanos. On the other hand, the image also features a strain of energy running down his hand as he gets ready to use his Infinity Gauntlet.
The tweet further paid tribute to the character’s demise in the film by tweeting with his final words: I Am Iron Man.
The Iron Man Mark 85-inspired suit will be available for players in the marketplace from July 21.

Marvel’s Avengers is Still Lacking Expansion?
Marvel’s Avengers was one of the most anticipated video games at the time of its launch. However, the game wasn’t met with the expected positive response. The multiplayer-based narrative lost interest among gamers post-launch, decreasing its ratings. However, Square Enix expanded the game’s story and delivered new heroes, including Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor.
Among these characters, neither Jane Foster nor Spider-Man received a story expansion and were directly included in the ongoing lore of the game, leading to further disappointment. Black Panther’s War for Wakanda was its most successful story expansion, released around the time of the untimely demise of actor Chadwick Boseman who played the character in the MCU. However, the game has not made any serious progress since then and has failed to release any significant story addition to the game.
The idea of having several MCU-inspired additions to the game could attract movie fans to the in-game universe. Several popular suits from the films have been adapted into the game before the Iron Man tribute, emphasizing cosmetic additions to the game. There are also fan expectations to see Thor don the new suit inspired by Thor: Love and Thunder, but it remains a far-fetched thought. However, Square Enix probably needs to deliver on the story updates it has been lagging for the past year.
There’s no telling if there’ll be new superheroes in the game soon. Still, Square Enix is probably not rushing into making a call regarding Marvel’s Avengers, owing to its poor financial and critical reception.
