Tremaine speaks about what’s harder now is that he’s more physically limited because of his again, leaving him more vulnerable to Johnny’s shenanigans. This is on display with footage from Jackass Forever of Knoxville shooting Tremaine with a projectile and shocking him with a stun gun. It’s all a part of the game with Jackass, and Knoxville adds that he’s surprised how fun it all still is for them after 20 years.

“We were all unsure going into it, but coming out if it, it felt as good as all the others,” Knoxville says. “The friendships that have not only remained, but have gotten stronger over the years, really mean a lot. For us to still be doing this after 20 years, and for it to be as fun as it is, I think that’s special.”

Johnny Knoxville was having the time of his life, but it came with a cost. He was seriously injured while filming a stunt involving a bull. The animal had charged him, hitting the daredevil straight on and flipping him into the air. Not wanting to go through the experience again, Knoxville has suggested he’s now retired from Jackass stunts. He has confirmed that Jackass Forever is his final Jackass movie because he doesn’t want to cause irreversible damage, or worse, the next time they make a movie.

“I got a broken wrist, broken rib, concussion and brain hemorrhage,” Knoxville said of his injuries, per Variety. “My cognitive skills took a couple of months to come back. I was walking and talking and carrying on a conversation, but I wasn’t 100% for three months. I couldn’t sit still. I couldn’t focus on anything, which is a problem usually, but it was really a problem. I was like a butterfly, flying around.”

He added, “My family doesn’t like me doing this type of thing… I’ve done enough. I don’t have anything to prove. I have kids to raise. That’s the most important thing.”

Jackass Forever stars Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, Sean McInerney, Zach Holmes, Eric Manaka, Jasper, and Rachel Wolfson. It is produced by Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze, and Johnny Knoxville, with Tremaine also the director of the sequel. Shanna Zablow Newton and Greg Iguchi executive produced.

Jackass Forever is set to be released in theaters on Feb. 4, 2022.
