James Gunn and partner Jennifer Holland announced their marriage on Instagram with a series of wedding snaps that included pictures of the couple’s wedding cake, which was topped by a pair of custom Funko Pops. Holland recently starred in Gunn’s DCEU series Peacemaker, and the pair have been sharing small pieces of information about their union for a while via social media, but now it is official, and Gunn couldn’t have been happier to share the news. Along with numerous photographs of the happy couple, as well as plenty of shots of his Marvel and DC families, the writer/director wrote:

While Gunn and Holland have been together since 2015, they only announced their engagement earlier this year. Having previously worked alongside each other on the Gunn-produced Brightburn three years ago, the have since collaborated on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, in which Holland played the character Emilia Harcourt. On her own Instagram, Holland added:

“After over 7 years together, I finally married the love of my life, [Jennifer Holland],” Gunn wrote. “What an incredible, beautiful, stunning day surrounded by the most wonderful family and friends in the world. And, yes, that’s a moose that showed up as the ceremony began! And also, yes, [Funko] made our wedding cake toppers designed on our actual tux and gown (Jenn wouldn’t let me see them before the wedding because her dress was too perfectly done!). And yes, we had Sunday fun festivities including a Marvel vs DC softball game (@michael_rooker played on both teams!)”

James Gunn Is Finalizing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

While James Gunn is pushing headlong into a number of new DC projects, he is currently working on his final Guardians of the Galaxy instalment for Marvel Studios. The third movie in the franchise will bring an end to the current Guardians roster of characters and promises to be an exciting and also emotional movie. Gunn previously said of the movie:

“James Thank you for sharing your love, life and family with me. Thank you for choosing me, elevating me and for always making me belly laugh. Here’s to many more years to follow the first extraordinary 7. [James} and I got married surrounded by the most beautiful humans, the most magical scenery, and endless love and laugher. My gratitude is bursting at the seams. Thank you to ever single staff member who worked so hard to make this event so special for us and our guests. It was so seamless and stunningly beautiful, I felt like I was in a movie. We only had one uninvited guest; Mr Bull Moose. But he sort of lives there so I guess we were in his home.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 comes to cinemas in May 2023.

“It was emotional making it, for sure. There was, of course, so much fun in the film and seeing fun sequences where the emotion isn’t so heavy, but ohh, there are scenes where the emotion is heavier than it’s ever been in the Guardians world. It was hard to get through some of it. It definitely feels like the most epic. It’s complex, and the characters are having to deal with that. It’s very emotional for all of them.”
