Peacemaker has been done and dusted for almost a month now on HBO Max, but the U.K. is still to see even the first episode of the series. While other popular series such as Chucky and Star Trek: Picard have arrived in the U.K. soon after their U.S. debut, DC fans have been left hanging for John Cena’s Peacemaker to arrive, but the wait is finally over. The series will premiere on March 22nd on Sky Max and Now TV, finally bringing the anti-hero to a whole new audience.
While talking about the series on his Twitter account, director and writer James Gunn has been constantly bombarded with questions about when Peacemaker would be seen across the pond, and today was the day he was finally able to share the news those fans have been waiting two months to hear.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Peacemaker has been a massive hit already on HBO Max, leading to a second season being commissioned. While it has been hard to avoid spoilers after such a long time since the final episode aired on February 17th, there will still be some surprises that will have slipped by for those eagerly awaiting the series arriving.
Peacemaker Integrated James Gunn Further Into Warner Bros. DC World
HBO Max
The Suicide Squad really came about due to James Gunn being temporarily pushed out of his directorial role on Guardians of the Galaxy a few years ago. Taking his chances as they came, Gunn was quickly taken in by Warner Bros. to work on their new Suicide Squad movie, but was soon also back in the Marvel Studios fold to conclude his MCU adventure. When The Suicide Squad was released in 2021 it became one of the big hits of the pandemic and almost immediately Gunn announced that he was working on the first spin-off centering on John Cena’s Christopher Smith.
Now he has added a massively successful TV series to his CV, James Gunn is looking to continue his run with Warner Bros. once he has completed work on Guardians of the Galaxy and the Guardians Holiday Special. Along with the announcement of a second Peacemaker season, Gunn also teased another spin-off project that is almost ready for him to reveal to the public. Although he is in demand right now, Gunn is clearly in his element working with Warner Bros. and he has previously spoken about the amount of freedom he has been given on the projects he has worked on so far.
Going down a more adult-themed route has certainly paid off for Gunn, and it is clear that he will be heading along that same path when it comes to future projects. For those who have lapped up his version of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, the next offering cannot come soon enough.
