Aquaman star Jason Momoa is officially joining “The Family” alongside Vin Diesel in the tenth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise, currently being dubbed as F10. Jason was earlier reported to be in talks to play a villain in F10. At the time Universal had not commented on the reports, but his involvement and casting in the franchise’s finale were confirmed by The Fast Saga’s official Twitter channel, as the team welcomed Momoa to the Fast Fam.

F10 or Fast and Furious 10 will form a two-part finale for the franchise, thus ending the two-decade-long run of the successful film series. Starting with The Fast and the Furious, a street racing thriller, the franchise’s story saw several modifications over the years as it first turned to heist films with Fast Five and then eventually became about a team trying to save the planet from tech-savvy villains in recent years. The films have also introduced new characters to the franchise such as Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, both of whom eventually starred in their own spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.

The tenth film will also see Charlize Theron making a final comeback as the film’s primary antagonist Cipher and Jason Momoa will probably collude with her in some way to take on the Fast Fam, after John Cena’s Jakob Toretto did the same before his character turned sides with his brother in F9: The Fast Saga.

Besides Theron, Fast and Furious 10 will bring back Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, and Sung Kang, the latter most of whom found a resurrection from the death of his character in the last film supported by an unexpected twist. The two-part finale will also probably deal with Shaw and Han’s supposed enmity. On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson has publicly denied reprising his role as Hobbs, even after Vin Diesel’s open invitation to the actor to come back for the final films. John Cena has expressed interest in returning to the finale; however, his involvement has not been confirmed.

Fans Will Have to Wait a Little Bit Longer for F10

F10 has been pushed to May 2023 for the meanwhile though a specific date of release is yet to be announced. Earlier the film was planned for a February 2023 release with the second part of the finale set for a February 2024 release as both films will be shot back-to-back. Both the parts of the finale will be helmed by director Justin Lin, who’d be returning after directing F9: The Fast Saga. Lin has earlier left the franchise after the sixth film and was replaced by James Wan for Furious 7, whereas The Fate of the Furious was directed by F. Gary Gray.

What do you think of Jason Momoa’s role in the film? Will he make an iconic villain against the Fast Fam?
