Aquaman star Jason Momoa has been in the news quite a lot lately for various good deeds. Last month, he assisted a motorcyclist who ran into his car, and a few weeks later, the actor surprised passengers on a plane by posing as a flight attendant, passing out his line of Mananalu water bottles. Currently, the 43-year-old is on a mission to help his friend, Travis Snyder, find a bone marrow donor due to his diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia, a fast-moving type of cancer. Unfortunately, the father of three has been unable to find a match.

Momoa met Snyder in Hawaii in 2015, and the two became quick friends. Momoa is dedicated to helping his friend raise awareness about how simple it is to join Be The Match, an organization that helps match bone marrow donors to those in need. In an Instagram clip posted before his August 1st birthday, the actor urges people to get swabbed by Be The Match. He wrote in a caption:

“Thousands of you have swabbed your cheek which we are so grateful for, but we still need more for Travis and the other patients. My birthday is coming up and all I want is for you to be a hero and hit the link in bio and join the registry, All my Aloha j."

After treatment, Travis Snyder went into remission, but in 2018, his cancer came back. In a video posted on Instagram, Snyder opened up about his condition and why finding a match has been hard. He says it’s because he is part Asian Pacific Islander. As for his friendship with Momoa, Snyder told Good Morning America:

According to Be The Match, about 150 people die yearly from blood cancers.

“He’s a friend that’s always been there for me. When I mentioned the registry thing, he was kind of mad at me, and was like, ‘What? Why haven’t you told me this before?’”

Snyder said that he and Momoa hung out for five days straight after they first met in 2015. They were sitting and listening to a local band when Jason put his hand on his “bald head, and goes ‘We’re in each other’s lives now, bro.’”
