The upcoming series Kaos has gotten a casting shakeup ahead of production, but with the exit of one popular actor comes the entrance of another. Originally, it was reported that Hugh Grant was in talks to star in the Netflix series as the Greek god Zeus. Per Deadline, Grant has since had to back out due to scheduling conflicts, but Jurassic World Dominion star Jeff Goldblum has been brought in to replace him.

Kaos comes from creator Charlie Covell who serves as a writer on the dark comedy series. It is presented as a modern take on Greek gods with Goldblum’s Zeus described as “seemingly all-powerful, yet desperately insecure and vengeful.” He has “long enjoyed his status as King of the Gods. That is, until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis then sets in, setting him off on a dangerous, paranoid path. Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming - and starts to see signs of it everywhere.”

Additionally, it is noted that “nothing is sacred in Covell’s bold reinvention of Greek myths (think tracksuits not togas), except the treachery and arrogance of a bunch of inconstant gods and their cosmic machinations… Some things never change.”

Goldblum joins fellow cast members Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Killian Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, Leila Farzad, Nabhaan Rizwan, Rakie Ayola, and Stanley Townsend. Georgi Banks-Davies serves as lead director with Runyararo Mapfumo serving as second block director. Banks-Davies is also executive producing with Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, and Nina Lederman. Katie Carpenter, Harry Munday, and Michael Eagle-Hodgson are producing for Sister. Georgia Christou wrote episode 6.

Jeff Goldblum Can Currently Be Seen On the Big Screen

This casting news comes at a time when Jeff Goldblum can be seen on the big screen after the recent premiere of the sequel Jurassic World Dominion. The movie brings together the casts of the original Jurassic Park along with the Jurassic World films, capping off the new trilogy. In the film, Goldblum reprises his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm, joining fellow legacy stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and B.D. Wong.

Goldblum was almost in another movie that’s now playing in theaters. He was featured in a scene for the new Marvel flick Thor: Love and Thunder, though it has since been revealed that his scene has been cut. Appearances by Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey have also been removed. Worse yet for fans hoping to see this footage, director Taika Waititi has said that he will not be releasing these deleted scenes in any form, so we can only imagine Goldblum’s cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Goldblum will also be featured as part of the ensemble cast of Wes Anderson’s upcoming romcom Asteroid City. The film boasts a star-studded cast that also includes the likes of Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Hope Davis, Matt Dillon, Sophia Lillis, Maya Hawke, Jeffrey Wright, and Tony Revolori, among others.
