Actor Jeremy Renner has been hospitalized with serious injuries, but as of press time, he’s said to be in “critical but stable” condition. Renner, who has recently starred in the TV shows Hawkeye and Mayor of Kingstown, was reportedly plowing snow on New Year’s Day when he suffered injuries after “experiencing a weather related accident,” per Deadline. Renner was reportedly airlifted to the hospital with his spokesperson noting that the actor is “receiving excellent care.” There hasn’t been any other information revealed related to the accident at this time.

The accident happened shortly ahead of Renner’s anticipated return in the second season of Mayor of Kingstown. Season 2 is set to premiere on Jan. 15 on Paramount+ after season 1 debuted the show in 2021. Renner leads the cast of the series as Mike McLusky, a member of a powerful family who is suddenly named as “Mayor” of Kingstown after the death of his brother. The trailer for season 2 was just recently released.

“It’s just heaven,” co-star Dianne Wiest said of working with Renner on the series in a MovieWeb interview. “I love to work with him. I am always so happy when I have a scene with him because he’s the kind of actor who is incapable of telling an untruth in his acting. He’s incapable of it. What you see is what is true, and there are no frills about it… I really adore him.”

Renner is also known for his Avengers role as Clint Barton, culminating with him getting his own series on Disney+ in 2021. Hawkeye is not expected to get a second season, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see more of Clint in the MCU at some point. While he will be staying occupied with his role in Mayor of Kingstown, Renner has also said he would love to keep wearing the Hawkeye tights for as long as possible, so you never know when he might pop back up into that world.

“I can make that live for another decade,” Renner said of having any more gas in the tank for Hawkeye. “Until I just can’t fit into the damn costume anymore.”

On acting in general, Renner added, “I’ll do it till no one wants to see me do it.”

Given his popularity, it’s clear that there are many fans who would love to see the actor continuing to perform on the big and small screens for years to come. For now, of course, the focus is on getting better.
