Marvel star Jeremy Renner has confirmed that he has now returned home following his recent accident which landed him in hospital and in critical condition. Renner suffered blunt chest trauma and other injuries after being hit, and run over, by his snow plow at his home, with the actor now taking to social media to reveal that he is home, where he watched the season 2 premiere of Mayor of Kingstown.

“Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” Renner said in response to a post made by the official Mayor of Kingstown Twitter account regarding the airing of the first episode of the second season. Renner is of course the lead of Mayor of Kingstown, starring as the titular “mayor,” Mike McLusky.

Renner was left with severe injuries at the start of this month when he was crushed by a snow plow. “We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today,” reads a statement released at the time. “His family is with him, and he is receiving excellent care.”

Following several minor updates and rumors, Renner’s family released a statement thanking fans for their support. “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families,” read a statement courtesy of Jeremy Renner’s rep. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

Since then, Renner himself has shared messages from hospital, as well as footage of himself in the ICU. Thankfully, the actor is now home safe, with further updates regarding his wellbeing likely to follow.

Mayor of Kingstown follows the powerful McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Renner leads the series as Mike McLusky, who suddenly finds himself in charge following the death of his brother. Created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone) and Hugh Dillon, the series stars an ensemble cast that includes Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, Aidan Gillen, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, newcomer Emma Laird, Derek Webster, James Jordan, Pha’rez Lass, Nishi Munshi, Nichole Galicia, and Hamish Allan-Headle.

Sheridan and Dillon have big plans for Mayor of Kingstown, and have high hopes to work with Renner again. “Taylor and I have multiple ideas for multiple seasons,” Dillion revealed. “I heard about it from one of the other producers. I saw it on the news and then he sent me a video,” Dillion said of Renner’s accident. “He’s very funny. I just think the world of that guy and I’m happy he’s surrounded by his family. Anything we can do to help, we will. That’s the biggest thing. He’s like family.”

The first episode of Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 is available now on Paramount+.
