New Predator franchise star Amber Midthunder has garnered the respect of one of the stars of the original movie. In the fifth film, Prey, which just recently debuted on Hulu, Midthunder stars as Naru, a Comanche woman who proves to be one of the most formidable foes yet to the Predator, despite not having access to modern tech and weaponry. Fans and critics have been loving Midthunder in the role, and among those impressed is Predator star Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

In the original Predator, Ventura played the memorable role of Blain Cooper, a cigar-smoking heavy-gunner who utters the often-quoted line, “I ain’t got time to bleed.” Channeling that phrase, the former pro wrestler and Minnesota governor took to Twitter to give his praise to Midthunder. He also had some kind things to say about the movie, calling Prey a “wonderful” film. Coming from one of the major players of the original movie, the compliment had both Midthunder and director Dan Trachtenberg feeling pretty happy.

“Great, great, film,” Ventura says of Prey. “Amber Midthunder you definitely ain’t got time to bleed. Welcome to the Predator family. (Dan Trachtenberg), thank you for making a such a thoughtful, creative, and wonderful film.”

“GUYS,” Midthunder responded, practically speechless.

Another tweet from Trachtenberg states, “Im on the floor. Thank you sir! Thanks for watching and so glad you appreciated what we did!!”

Ventura also took a moment to praise Dane DiLiegro, the actor who portrayed the Predator in Prey. Tweeting to DiLiegro, Ventura added, “It is not an easy task following the late great Kevin Peter Hall’s performance as the Predator. My hat off to you. Fantastic job.”

It’s not common for a fifth installment of a horror franchise to be a big success, but that is the case with Prey. The response to the film has been overwhelmingly positive with most fans and critics agreeing that Prey is among the best installments of the franchise. Many are putting it on par with the original while some have even stated that Prey is their new favorite. Its cast has gotten a lot of the credit for the praise, and that of course includes Amber Midthunder in her shining role as Naru.

Dan Trachtenberg directed Prey using a screenplay by Patrick Aison. Along with Midthunder, the cast includes Dakota Beavers, Michelle Thrush, Stormee Kipp, Julian Black Antelope, and Dane DiLiegro. The movie serves as a prequel to the original Predator by going back hundreds of years with a Predator targeting a Native American tribe in the 1700s.

Prey is now streaming on Hulu. So far, the film is sitting with a fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes with a 93% Fresh score.
