The floodgates have been opened with Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix officially crossing over with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Surprise character reveals in Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home have linked the two worlds together, and now, fans are wondering which other characters from the “Defendersverse” could be showing up next. One person many fans would love to see show up is Colleen Wing, a character played by Jessica Henwick who appeared in Iron Fist and other Marvel shows on Netflix.

There are no set plans at this time for Colleen Wing to be brought into the MCU. Henwick had even considered trying out for another role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, though she opted to pursue The Matrix Resurrections instead. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Henwick says that part of the reason she passed on Shang-Chi was because she wanted to keep the hope alive for the potential return of Colleen.

As Henwick says, Charlie Cox knew he’d be returning as Matt Murdock in the MCU for a very long time, even if he’s played coy all throughout. The fact that she still hasn’t heard a peep from Marvel Studios about Colleen has led Henwick to assume that the character’s return is unlikely. Even so, perhaps the odds are still better than ever with so much fan excitement over the returns of other major characters from Daredevil. There are calls for stars of the other Marvel shows at Netflix to come in as well, so if Marvel ever decides that Colleen is worth revisiting, Henwick will be ready.

“That definitely did come up in the discussion. If I did [Shang-Chi], I would effectively be putting Colleen to bed. It wasn’t the main factor, but it definitely came up in conversation. I love Colleen. She changed my life. Of course, if I was given the opportunity to revisit her, I would, but I just don’t know how likely that is. Charlie knew about that opportunity years ago. He already knew it was happening. I think I would have heard by now if there were any plans with Colleen.”

There’s no telling if Colleen Wing will ever return, but Henwick can now be seen in her latest role as Bugs in the new movie The Matrix Resurrections. She is also a part of the cast of The Gray Man, an upcoming action thriller directed by the Russo Brothers which also stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Alfre Woodard, and Rege-Jean Page. Another big upcoming project, Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2, will also feature the actress in a main role. Meanwhile, she voices the lead in the new animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

That would be cool! If it was the right moment, the right project, for sure. I love Colleen. But we’ll see. I gave her a happy ending. She’s happily living in New York with Misty [Simone Missick]. They’re running their own business together. So she’s good where she is as well."
