Jessica Rothe has replaced Samara Weaving in the upcoming action-thriller Boy Kills World. Rothe will join the film in a supporting role, essaying the role of an assassin called June 27. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ready Or Not actress Samara Weaving had to step down from her casting in the film due to her prior commitments that caused scheduling conflict.

Rothe will be joining an ensemble in Boy Kills World, which will include Bill Skarsgård (It, Atomic Blonde) playing the central character, as well as Yayan Ruhian (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum), Isaiah Mustafa (Shadowhunters), and Andrew Koji (Snake Eyes).

Boy Kills World is being helmed by director Moritz Mohr. This would be Mohr’s feature film debut, however, he has previously directed short films and episodes of a television series. He is best known for writing, producing, and directing the 2005 short Akumi. Mohr is nothing less than an industry veteran, having been in it professionally for more than fifteen years. He worked on several projects in multiple departments including editing and visual effects. Mohr is joined in the making of Boy Kills World by Arend Remmers and Tyler Burton Smith (Child’s Play) as screenwriters, adapting the screenplay from an original story by Mohr and Remmers.

Besides Mohr, the film has Sam Raimi involved in the project as the producer. Raimi is known for directing Spider-Man Trilogy [2002-2007] and producing and directing The Evil Dead. Raimi is also set to direct the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Boy Kills World is the story of a deaf and mute boy played by Bill Skarsgård. The IMDB synopsis of the film reads,

Besides Sam Raimi’s Raimi Productions, the film will be co-produced by Vertigo Entertainment, Nthibah Pictures, and Hammerstone Studios. Boy Kills World will undergo production and filming on February 14 in South Africa. No release date for Boy Kills World has been finalized yet.

A dystopian fever dream action film that follows Boy, a deaf-mute with a vibrant imagination. When his family is murdered, he is trained by a mysterious shaman to repress his childish imagination and become an instrument of death.
