It took hundreds of cinnamon rolls to film episode 610 of Better Call Saul, titled “Nippy,” which guest starred Parks and Rec’s Jim O’Heir. In the episode, Jimmy “Gene” McGill (Bob Odenkirk) plans a department store heist with an elaborate scheme that involves distracting mall security guards with free Cinnabon. O’Heir plays a guard who enjoys talking football with Jimmy while devouring a cinnamon roll in about three minutes, on average.
In an interview with the New York Post, O’Heir shared some behind-the-scenes details on playing a Cinnabon-loving security guard in Better Call Saul. He revealed that each day of filming required 100 cinnamon rolls brought in, and while O’Heir was spitting out as much as he could between takes, the role did require him to eat quite a bit of the sugary treat. An on-set medic had even begun monitoring the actor’s blood sugar levels just to make sure he didn’t have any dangerous spikes.

O’Heir also explained how Odenkirk had encouraged him to take a break at any time if he needed to clear his mouth, touching on the difficulties of doing so many takes with bites of Cinnabon in his mouth.
Jim O’Heir Was Surprised to Meet Carol Burnett
Sony Pictures Television
Another special guest star featured in “Nippy” is comedy legend Carol Burnett. Because O’Heir and Burnett don’t share any scenes together, O’Heir did not realize that they would be in the same episode. He shared the story of meeting Burnett when he got to the set which was a very nice surprise for the actor, who also happens to be a big fan.
There are three episodes left of Better Call Saul. They arrive Monday nights on AMC and AMC+.
